I have always heard that spot reduction is impossible, that it is impossible to work the muscles in one paricular area and lose fat in that area; you must work the whole body in a cardiovascular way and you will lose fat from your whole body in addition to the problem area.

I am naturally fairly thin but if i start eating too much junk then my belly becomes a little 'softer' haha. If i do cruches and ab work for about 1-2 weeks, my abs become fimer and the lower ab pudge is gone. Anyone else had this happen? i've always been told spot reduction is a myth but i swear it works for my stomach anyways. Any comments/explanations welcome!

It may seem that way because part of the "pudge" you were feeling was soft muscle and even your organs pushing out behind your soft muscles, and when you do the ab workouts, it's like you have a nice tight "girdle".

But it is also possible that your workouts are reducing your stress and stress can create a tendency to keep fat in the abdominal area.
