Chocolate Oatmeal
Category: Breakfast

Suitable for a: vegan diet

Ingredients:
------------------------------------------------------

OK. This is really simple and something I just stumbled across at work. I have regular instant oatmeal that I don't like because it's flavorless. I found a packet of instant hot chocolate mix in my desk and decided to mix them together. Wow. It was really good.

Ingredients:
1 packet of instant regular oatmeal
1 packet of instant hot chocolate mix

Instructions:
------------------------------------------------------

Put the oatmeal in a bowl with a little more than the recommended amount of water. Microwave as the directions on the instant oatmeal indicate. Add hot chocolate mix, stir, and enjoy. I added a little sugar to mine because I like it sweet.

I'll definitely have to dry this one! Oatmeal is good, but once I tried adding some chocolate chips and it came out REALLY good! Also, since going vegan, my old favorite type of oatmeal is no longer and option and I would be interested in finding some new vegan versions, which may turn out to be even better!

*chuckle* I thought I was the only one who ate chocolate oatmeal. I use sugar and a bit of cocoa powder, but the idea's the same. It smells yummy too. :lick:

Wow, I would have never thought to put anything like chocolate or pb in my oatmeal! And especially protein powder. Great idea. I have to start thinking 'outside the box' more. :)

You could use cocoa powder if you can't find vegan hot chocolate mix.

Tried this recipe this morning :lick:

Very good! I may use the unsweetened cocoa powder next time.

Yummy...
I have accedentally made instant oatmeal with coffee before.
Pretty good, but it could have used some sugar.

Oh, that's pretty cool, coffee in oatmeal. I have to try that tomorrow. I tried the chocolate oatmeal. I can't taste the chocolate, so it's kind of a waste of cocoa powder :-| Heh heh... -.-;; Maybe my tastebuds are just dead.

Since I am lacto-ovo, I have some bananas and cream oatmeal that I have rarely. I am thinking that adding some chocolate chips to that would be good. Hmmm

Ummm...the recipe said that this was suitable for a vegan diet. Is there a vegan cocoa mix I don't know about? Because all the ones I've seen have milk in them.

This is the one I splurge on in the winter. http://www.lakechamplainchocolates.com/Products.aspx?pn_deptid=425

Just mix 1 part cocoa powder with 2 to 3 parts sugar! Works like a charm.

Hell yes. I often have this, I thought I was the only one! I use Green and Black's organic cocoa powder, and I sweeten it with either a mashed, over-ripe banana or some maple syrup. Add some cinnamon and I'm good to go. I could eat it all day. It's pudding-y. :)

Porridge oats are better for you than oatmeal.. I only use porridge oats. anyway this would work with oats?

Why are porridge oats better? I generally used "jumbo porridge oats", so they work. But, they're really all the same, just cut differently, yeah?

She might mean that regular rolled oats are better than the thinned out "quick" oats that most people buy. They do take a bit longer to make though.

As for chocolate oatmeal, nothing is better than just using chocolate almond milk and little bit of sugar (if you like sweet things like me). But chocolate almond milk is liquid awesomeness on it's own, so that shouldn't surprise anyone.

I tried making it with coca once and it was kind of gross in comparison.
