I was wondering if anyone knew of either a site with a list of non-vegan ingredients, or if someone could maybe post the ones they know of...or even link me to another thread, if this was posted before.

I know most of the meat by-products that are in everyday products, but I want to be sure. Since I'm planning on being vegan soon, I feel that this would prepare me!

Thanks in advance :)

Hope this helps...

If you just google vegan you'll come up with a pile of stuff!

Good luck, let me know how it goes...

Here is a list of ingredients, explanations, and non-animal alternatives you can download to your iPod (there are instructions on the site). It's really convenient if you are at the store and not sure about an ingredient.

Ok, the boards won't let me put in a URL yet, but just google "animal ingredients list for ipod' and it will come right up.

Thanks you two...

I did try Google before but I wasn't sure what keywords to use, so this helps a lot!

And wow, there a lot!! :|

I wish I had an iPod to dl this to...would be handy..

Thanks again :)

I bought a book years ago that had cooking substitutions for people allergic to dairy and eggs. It had quite a lot of other substitutions for other things also. It might be worth looking into. I have it burried some where and I don't remember the title, but a search on Amazon might turn it up rapidly. I go searching.

I found it on Amazon. It is 1001 Substitutions. After looking at the other choices I wouldn't know which you would prefer. But there you have it.

Oh wow, that's a good list. Thanks!!

All those E numbers on the other list was confusing, but I'll reference both just the same!

Thanks for your help everyone.. :D

Another great site is the "Ican't believ it's Vegan" site. You may need to double check some of the ingredients lists, because products some times change without warning...but most on this site are pretty acurate. It's a PETA site after all ;-)
