View Full Version : Please sign petition to stop Japanese whalers.

Please sign the petition to stop Japan from hunting whales.
Japanese whalers have been selling meat from their "research" to supermarkets, gourmet restaurants, even fast-food chains and school cafeterias.
What's worse, the manner in which these magnificent creatures are slaughtered is truly horrific; often they are harpooned with explosive tips and then dragged arduously onto whale ships. And now Japan is increasing the slaughter, doubling the number of whales to be killed in an international marine mammal sanctuary.
Sign the petition now to end whaling by Japan.
Unless they are stopped now, Japan will launch a return to full-scale industrial whaling; the last of which once drove whales to the brink of extinction. Only the tremendous resources and clout of the United States has a chance to stop Japan from destroying the world's whales.

This petition is going to do what, exactly?

Oh sorry.
The petition is asking President Bush to oppose Japan's bid for permanent membership to the United Nations Security Council until they comply with international laws protecting whales.
Not to kill your hopes or anything, but what do you think are the chances he'd listen?

I dont know. But since they need 70,000 signatures I'm asking vbers to help. Maybe it'll make some difference. It's better than doing nothing.
If thepetitionsite was capable of doing anything, they'd have done it by now. I've seen plenty of completed AR petitions there and yet nothing happened.

I think this one might be different, because it is by IFAW.
Making it different how?
BTW: Can you find a list of success stories on that site?

Geez. I'm sorry I posted this useless petition, ok? I'm sorry I tried to make a difference.
So you should be!
However, I think we can come to an arrangement where I might overlook this incident. $50 should do it.

Scythe, are you an idiot, either sign it or shut up, someones trying to do something good here,if we all sat around and did nothing then nothing would change and petitions are a great way to change things.

why are you such an ass man? all they were doing was making a post about something they believed in. if you don't think it'll do anything, don't reply to the damn topic.

I applaud your efforts. We have to start somewhere, right? If you aren't into signing, then don't sign. What harm will it do?
It's always such a pleasure to hear from you Scythe - I love an optimist.
I signed it, just like I sign all those petitions. It took me like 2 minutes so if it doens't make any difference at all then I'll get up two minutes earlier tomorrow.

I didn't sign it (as I'm one that finds petitions to be a waste of time), but I did find the comments rather humorous.
DEAR ASSHOLE FROM INTERNET FILM. DO NOT KILL THE WHALES DIDYOU EVER HEAR OF OTHER INTELLIGENCE LIFE ON THIS PLANET WHEN YOU GET TO HEAVEN GOD WILL SAY. YOU DIDNT PROTECT THE LESS FORTUNATE.
You're right though that it doesn't take much time to sign a petition... that's the reason they're always ignored. They assume that if you really actually cared about the issue that you'd send a letter written by yourself instead of just clicking a link on a website. (Not saying you guys didn't do both, hopefully.)

How about . . . no. You don't like it, you've got my address, come play.
why are you such an ass man?
To annoy you (whoever the hell you are). Looking good so far.
