This morning I attended a memorial service for a beautiful and sweet, but tortured soul named Mercy. She was a 10 month old pit bull pup that was savagely tortured and murdered by her "owner" because she wouldn't breed. To read her story, here is the link. Be warned that there are a couple of pictures on the page that are not pleasant.

I attended the memorial not only to grieve for Mercy, but to grieve for all the sweet animals that I come across every day doing rescue work and that I hear about every day in the news. These innocent creatures need a voice and we have to be that voice.
The monster that did this to Mercy, was arrested and then freed on a $2500 bond. That means he got out of jail on $250. Here is a link to a local Dallas area animal advocate's blog that talks about this. http://readlarrypowell.typepad.com/read_larry_powell/2006/04/arrested_in_the.html
I'm asking anyone that can to write to the District Attorney of Dallas County to urge him to prosecute this "man" to the fullest extent of the law. Please write to:
Mr. Bill Hill
District Attorney, Dallas County
Frank Crowley Courts Bldg.
133 N. Industrial LB 19
Dallas, TX 75207-4399
Please take action. This monster and others like him don't deserve any leniency. Thanks.
