Someone suggested I should get a guinua pig to live with my mice. I have never heard of this before. I suppose she wouldn't have mentioned this to me unless it's already being done.
Then I started thinking, guinua pigs are non predatory and doesn't do things like kick. I don't think I'll try because there's not enough space in my tanks for guinua pig, just curious.

no, you shouldn't mix any species of small animal, even if they won't actually hurt each other, they all have very different needs as far as food, housing, space, etc. as well as different germs, and they'll tend to stress each other out. Both are social animals, but guinea pigs need to live with other guinea pigs, mice need to live with other mice they don't "speak" the same language and aren't at all compatiable.

My mom said in Peru, guinea pigs are kept together with llamas, they all run together in a mixed herd.
Of course this may be purely utilitarian and they may not like each others company.

They also eat the guinea pigs in Peru. I doubt they care about the pigs personal comfort.

the motivation for getting the guinea pig is the mice? that makes no sense.

Uhh, yeah, there definitely wouldn't be enough space. Guinea Pigs need lots of room to run around.
And no, don't ever try to mix them or try to find someone that says it's okay to mix them. It's not ideal for them. If someone says they do fine together, just ignore it.

Why would you want to get a guinea pig to live with your mice?
As everyone else has said, when it comes to small animals, keep like with like.

Another case of "deaf" peoples' reading my thread.
"Why would you want to get a guinea pig to live with your mice?"
I never brought it up myself, someone else suggested I go get a guinea pig to live with my mice. I already said I'm not doing it and was just curious.

No. it is NOT safe. there is NO reason to put a gunieapig in with mice, and I have no idea why ahn educated person would suggest this. Makes me wonder about the person you heard this from.

Yes, but why did that person suggest doing it?
