I was wondering what are nutrients/minerals/etc that are good for your eyes, and overall eye care, also, if you could name some examples of food that contain a pretty good amount of the item. Thanks :naughty:

I've always heard you should eat carrots to help your eyesight because of the betacarotine. But I hate carrots (and have poor eyesight).

Ditto. Vitamin A's supposed to be good, especially for night vision, but I still have to feel my way around the movie theatre. :)

Vitamins A, C and E are the best for eyes. So is omega3 fatty acids (it helps keep the eyes moist among many other things).

I've also read that deep green leafy veggies are also excellent for eye nutrition. Things like kale, spinach, swiss chard are packed with lutein which helps reduce the risk of macular degeration. I've also read that the brassica family (broccoli, cabbage, brusselsprouts, etc) also helps reduce this risk. The trick, though is to not cook all the nutrients out of your veggies as over cooked veggies are quite useless, nutritionally speaking.

I used to have some write ups about eye health, but I had a nasty computer crash and lost a lot of stuff.

For the best sources of A, C and E (in addition to sources for lutein), check out nutritiondata.com and do a search by each nutrient. You'll find plenty, I'm sure. :)

^^^^^I'm just scrollin down the page and I SEE, ahem, 4everG's av, and then it hit me, you need some eye nutrients!!!! Count me in too!! Seriously my eyes do feel a bit flustered. :-/ like I'm blinking quite a lot as though I need to cleanse them out because of dust and wotnot it might be, but anyway I just did clean them out (and put them back in :D) and they still feel a bit flustered or dust blighted. oh well, so I guess if not so much atmospheric dust, it has to be the probable fact I needs me nutrients, GOOD THREAD THEREFORE!!! *waves thumb about*

I had to research this one once, here's one interesting study:
