How come no-one's posting here? Was there a similar thread recently?

Anyway, I protested at a circus many years ago. It was lots of fun even though there were only four of us. Two of us covered one entrance and two covered the other. We got excellent coverage from the press with a front page picture of one of the "lion tamers" holding open the mouth of a lion. The reporter got my name wrong but that's ok.

The guy who headed up the protest had all his information and had suggestions of alternatives to exotic-animal circuses and stuff. Only problem is he wasn't well spoken so city council didn't listen to his ideas. But then a couple of years later a vet spoke out against the same kind of circuses and we got a law in place but the circuses figured out a loop-hole and the circuses still come to town. :(

I've never really *PROTESTED* but I tabeled for a concert tour... Taste of Chaos.

Our goal was to get people to sign the Kentucky Fried Cruelty petition. There were pretty much 3 different types of reactions.

1) Deer in headlights. People looking scared an 'Oh God, I don't know you, why are you talking to me?' and when I'd finish giving my little shpeel as to why they should sign, they go 'no thanks' and walk away quickly.

2) Jack asses who are impossible to avoid. "LOLOL I LOVE KFC OMG." Or when you tell them what they do to the chicken [ie boil them alive] they say something like "Sounds tasty".

3) The awesome people who actually want to sign.

Over-all a pretty good experience.

Hey Xer, how come the vegan in your avatar is sad? Veganism should be a happy experience. :)

Out of interest Mr.Sun , have they improved , downunder they have (almost ) moved away from being mainly animal "entertainment " and just use human performers . Still a long way to go though .
