Maggie is an African Elephant at the Alaska Zoo and she's all alone. Please help her become retired to a sanctuary. Here's her home page.

And here's her petition.

Thank You. Poor Maggie. How ridiculous this is. They have spent an enormous amount of money to get her a treadmill. It's my understanding that Alaska Zoo is supposed to only house indigenous animals - last time I checked, elephants were not indigenous to Alaska. As well, Alaska Zoo cannot get accreditation from the AZA because Maggie is housed alone. Poor Maggie. She belongs at TES. Thanks for bringing this to the boards' attention
I signed it. Elephants need other elephants - simple as that.

I was in a rush and forgot to post these links for Maggie:

eta to remove "Friends of Maggie" link - OP already had it (sorry THX)
That's almost the last place on earth I'd expect to find an elephant. Not quite though.

Well, Maggies treadmill isn't working out like they thought. I just don't understand why they don't go into Africa and see how the elephants there use their treadmills.... Full Story - use link

The Alaska Zoo has been trying to coax its elephant, Maggie, onto the world's first elephant treadmill for two months. But so far, the stubborn and sometimes moody elephant has shown more interest in treats than exercise. She's not about to take up jogging.
