The first good thing about this product is lack of packaging; you take what you want from the bin, and you could even reuse the bag for the next trip.

So Soya Slices are made from "Fat free soya flour (not genetically modified)" (that's the only ingredient), which makes it a great alternative to tofu, which I beleive normally uses GM soybeans.

You soak the chips in hot water, broth, or marinade, or toss them into a soup. The first time I tried it, I had it in a soup with veggie broth, chinese cabbage, red lentils and brown rice. They tasted almost like chicken to me (omni family members told me it didn't really taste like chicken), and though a little chewy, were pretty good.

Today I soaked them in hot marinade (soy sauce, vegetable oil, sesame seeds, white wine, water) for about 15 minutes and then put them on top of my salad. They were great, a nice consistency and good flavour.

I don't remember how much they are, but they're not pricey. Bulk Barn is only in Canada, by the way.
