View Full Version : Paul McCartney's a hypocrite

Whilst I appreciate Paul and Heather's attempts to bring down the fur trade, I can't help but think what a hypocrite Paul is - he did, after all, accept a Knighthood from the Queen, who is one of the biggest advocates for fur/animal hunting...

Oh, I don't think that makes him a hypocrite. That was in recognition for his contribution to music and he was as entitled to that honour as all the others that receive it. I think he works so hard for animals and so does Heather. We can't live isolated lives - we all of us work for, live with or come into contact with omnis of various degrees in our lives.

I heard he accepted money from some omni's who bought his records.

what she and she said, and at least the money he accepts from people buying his records he gives tons of it to animal rights groups. Him and Heather take time from their lives to do charity work for animals, that's super cool. How many other rich people do you see doing charity work for animals, not many. I would never say anything bad about Paul McCartney because he's a vegan and has done soooo much for animals. Him accepting an award from the queen is like you accepting a reward or recognition from school or work, are they are vegans? I'm sure if he had a choice the queen along with everyone else in the world would be vegan, don't you think?

I agree with you completely. Thank goodness I am not the only one who has these views. I am sure they are swell, and I am happy that they speak out against animal crualty.
One question: what is wrong with omni's? Just becuase they eat meat doesn't make them bad people. I have noticed alot on these boards that people get very high on themselves and speak down against people who DO eat some meat. All I have to say to that is "tsk tsk".
No wonder people assume that Veg's are full of self importance.
Just a thought...

What's wrong with omni's is they are killing animals that they did not create. How can you kill something you did not create? That's the main problem with omni's. As a concerned person I can not talk up to these people. Most vegans didn't start out as vegan, most became vegans once they realized that it is just plain wrong to hurt animals. But there are omni's that have been educated on the suffering of animals and actually don't care, these are the omni's that I can not stand. I think it is pure evil to know about the horrible suffering of these animals and chosing not to care. I don't understand someone's capacity to not give a darn, it's pure evil to me?? I don't really talk down to them, I generally try to not talk to them as little as possible after I realize nothing I say will convince them to stop supporting the suffering and killing of animals. I hope this answers your question of 'what's wrong with omni's'.

I do get what you are saying, but not everyone knows what goes on in a slaughterhouse, trapper lines and factory farms. When you go out of your way to preach to someone and put them down for their ignorance on a certain subject, don't you think this creates negativity that isn't needed? Personally, my parents are 'omni's' as well as some of my family, friends and also my boyfriend. For me to not talk to someone because they do not agree with what I say or believe in is unnecessary.
I know there is people that just 'don't care', and it is frusterating. But for people to say that all omni's are this way is wrong. You say you do not talk down to them, yet you also say you won't even talk to them after you realize you can't change there mind. Like I mentioned before, no wonder some people think that Veg's are full of self importance.
Cheers!

I don't go out of my way to preach to omni's. But generally speaking, whenever I'm engaged in a conversation BY an omni I only give the facts I don't point fingers. I didn't say I don't talk to any omni's, I just shy away from the ones who have been educated and don't give a care, it's unnatural to me not to care and I don't feel comfortable around these people. I didn't say all omni's are this way, if you will re-read my message I was talking about the ones who have been educated and chose not to care. I even mentioned the fact that most vegans become vegans when they learn to think of the suffering. For the record, I don't mean not talk to your family and friends that you already have. I just don't go out of my way to befriend hard core omni's who have turned their back on animals after being educated on their suffering. I just can't get down with that man......peace to you

I know you weren't talking about my family and friends LOL. I was using that as an example. I didn't mean to offend you, I just came to my conclusion when you said that you try not to talk to them (omni's that don't care). It seemed like you might be preachy because what you write reminded me of Veg's that are, sorry. :D

If you really think about it, every single one of us is a hypocrite to some degree. don't you think. I also appreciate the work Paul and Heather does for animals. Back in the spring of 1990, it was Paul and Linda, when she was still with us, who inspired me to go vegetarian. I had tried many times before, and never succeeded, but after finding out they were, I never turned back, even when I am the sole vegetarian in my family. Linda would be very proud of Paul and happy he found love again.

I think the fact that Heather has become involved shows just how important it is to him.
He won't even ride in a limo with leather seats...
Paul McCartney is "very fond of flowers," won't travel in a stretch limousine with leather seats, and will not stand for backstage furniture made of any animal skin or print (even if it's of the artificial variety).

Whoa! Nellie!
That boat don't float!
My DH and I "created" our children, but that doesn't mean we can kill them just because we "created" them. Would you like to rephrase that?
And I disagree. Omnis aren't bad people. They are unenlightened. They haven't woke up to the merciful side of living. They just don't yet see the reason for it--YET. I was one once. Were you? When you were, were you bad? I wasn't, I was unenlightened.

I was a fan of Paul and Heather's work anyway but after watching The McCartneys V The Fur Trade on tv last week, and seeing how hard they work for animals, how they are not afraid to offend celebs and the public who do not care about animals, they have gone up in my estimations even more! With all his money and fame, Paul doesn't need to get involved with animal welfare. He could lock himself up in his mansion and live a luxurious life without a care in the world apart from himself (like a lot of A-list celebs not even worth mentioning!). But he doesn't. He cares an awful lot. So after also working hard with his incredibly successful music career, why should he not receive the recognition for it? If anything, he deserves that Knighthood even more. That man rocks!

How can you agree with what the OP said and then say it's bad to speak down against omnivores? That's exactly what the OP is doing, except she's taken it one step further and says anyone who doesn't completely cut themselves off from omnivores is a hypocrite. :dizzy:
Have you talked to your omnivore mom lately? How dare you! You must not care about animals then. Don't make friends with the enemies, that might encourage them to change.

I never said you SHOULD destroy anyone......don't put words in people's mouths. I'm just saying that based on the principal that you didn't create something you darn sure should not destroy it. If just that one concept could sink into people's heads maybe they would quit eating meat.

If you will actually read what I said, it was that I, personally, don't feel comfortable with omni's that are strangers that have been educated on the horrors of meat and then choose not to care. I stated that I have family and friends that are omni's and of course I talk to them regularly. What kills the fun of this board and expressing ideas is that people want to put words in your mouth. Please don't do that or people might start putting words in your mouth if true or not. It's really not polite to assume for the worst when you don't even ask the person how they feel. Also, I never said I talk down to anyone, I said you shouldn't do that. What I said is I tend to shy away from omni's that have been educated on the horrors of eating meat and they don't care.

Butterfly, I didn't quote your post, and wasn't talking to you. So I'm not sure why you quoted me or claim I'm misunderstanding you. To be honest I didn't even read your post, I was responding to someone else. That's why I quoted their post when I replied to them.

My bad Kpickell, sorry........we seem to keep running into each other. What's your take on Paul and Heather? Did you see the Larry King show that Heather was on a few months back, the topic was the chinese dog/cat fur trade. It was so horrible but good for people to see.
