My problem: they poo everywhere & sometimes pee, & I have carpet. Also they push hay out of their cages & it gets trapped in the carpet. I have wrecked a "Shark" vacuum picking up hay already. :(
Please help!! TIA

Chinchillas and gunieapigs shouldnt be in the same room because they ned totally different temps. (chinchillas need it alot cooler) for the hay, try to pick it up by hand, thats what I try to do.. Guniea pig pee tends to stain. What kind of cgaes do they have? For the hay, you can try and "block" where they push it out from if they have a wire cage. Sorry if this post wasnt much help, but if you watch them while they are out you should be able to clean it up fast enough. Also I am concerned if the chinchillas are in a cool enough room if they are sharing one with guniea pigs.

Can you put a blanket or something under their cage to catch the hay, poop, etc. Maybe one of those neat sheet things? then you could just shake it out and wash it once in awhile.

Chinchillas are not particularly sensitive to temperature. I had both chinchillas and guinea pigs growing up. One chinchilla is still with my parents doing well. They both can be housed in a range of temperatures.
To the OP, I would put a canvas cloth down. Something like the cloth you put under walls to paint. Durable, doesn't look too bad, etc. You could also find something waterproof...

Thank you all. I will be getting a canvas drop cloth on payday.
Re the room temperature, I've been keeping chinchillas & guinea pigs together in a room for the past 4 years. What is/was supposed to happen?

At the chinchilla rescue where I got them from, and every info I read on them it says if they get to warm they can over heat and die...is the room cool?

The room is "room temperature"... neither hot nor cold...
I wonder what happens to chinchillas when they get warm? They don't die, as I've had the heat cranked over the winter & they are fine. In fact they seem to like warmth, as in a well-heated room they all cuddled together to sleep nonethless.
