Ok, after I got my feeder mice, I got a chance to adopt two agouti mice. Naturally if the agouti mice would have come along first, I might have not gotten feeder bred mice.
All the mice were supposed to live together in my 30 gal.
Oh I was looking forward to a brown and white mousey pile...
Now I found out an unexpected complication . I thought my new mice were pet bred. The new mice are lab rescues. As many rodent keepers know, lab bred rodents are complelty free of myco (normally this would be great news) and I imagine feeder bred mice are most definatly not free of myco.

I know that myco free rats can't typically be introduced to normal populations of pet rats. You would need to keep them totally seperate from each other, make sur that no toys, food bowls, water bowls, bedding, etc. are shared, keep them in a different room and wash/change clothes before touching the lab mice. Also, for rats at least a glass tank will cause respitory problems by holding in amonia from urine. No wood based beddings should be used either, only paper beddings like care fresh are safe.

I've been washing my hands inbetween mice and keeping them in seperate tanks in seperate rooms.
The feeder ladies are in my bedroom and the lab mice are in my living room.
Ugh....but
I already gave them the running whel from the feeder ladies because they were in the smaller tank.
Sadly one of the new mice seems to have a terminal disease discovered on the second day I had them. We called yesterday, but nobody was in and my mom was supposed to call again today (they are out of state and I cut my long distance phone service to save money) So whenever I make out of state phone calls, I either have my parents do it on my behalf or drive to their place. If the sick one goes back to the shelter, I don't think she should be alone so I guess they both may go back.
I'm playing with the healthy lab mouse right now...bittersweet new mice:/

There was a "mice advice" thread some time ago on this forum (I posted in it), but we haven't posted in it for a month. It already got "bumped" once after it had not had any posts for a few weeks.
I have board addies for one or two rodent/mouse boards, if you want them.

Myco is a common rodent illness. As I understand it, most rodents carry it even if they themselves are not sick with it. Which I suppose is why it's so hard to eradicate if it's carried by healthty animals.
New baby mice from a friend, sounds like a great place to get mice. They will probably be friendly socialized mice.
What gender ( I assume two of the same) and kind of mice are you getting?
Good news on my front: is I guess my sick mouse got better on her own or it was a false alarm.
On monday I couldn't tell which mouse was sick anymore. Unfortunatly I plain just can't tell them apart either. This isn't a good thing and I'd like to find a way to tell them apart which doesn't involve the traditional ear notching.
Yesterday was the last day my feeder mice could have pregnant because now I've had them for twenty two days and mouse pregnancy lasts for eighteen to twenty one days. Part of me wanted cute babies, the reasonable part of me knew if they were born, they would likley not find pet homes being plain PEWs.
