Easy pizza crust (and topping/sauce ideas)
Category: Main Dishes - Other
Suitable for a: vegan diet
Ingredients:
------------------------------------------------------
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 tablespoon yeast
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted vegan margarine
Instructions:
------------------------------------------------------
Mix the yeast with the lukewarm water until the yeast is dissolved and let stand for a few minutes.
Preheat oven to 425F
Add the salt and vegetable oil/melted margarine; mix well. Add the flour, mix and roll out/form the dough into desired shape, thickness and size. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes.
Take it out and rub vegan margarine over it (optional).
Add toppings, and cook for 10-15 more minutes.
Enough dough for one personal-sized pizza!
Additional comments:
------------------------------------------------------
I made a pizza that was about 12" wide, but it was kinda thick. When I make it again (because I will!), I will try to make a thinner crust/larger pie.
For sauce, I just used some regular pizza sauce, making sure it was vegan friendly.
For toppings, I started off with crushed chickpeas. This ended up giving the pizza a "cheese-like" topping! Also, I added mushrooms, black olives and garlic.
Enjoy!
