well, i'm one you can call "half vegetarian". i rarely eat. i eat like one snack a day. even though im skinny. im nervous of getting fat since im basically the only male in this house that isnt fat. i dont want to be fat like them.
well, anyway, i'm not much of a nutritionist or however that's called. but, if i eat like, 3 pounds of broccoli, is it the same as if i'm eating 3 pounds of hamburger from mcdonalds? if no, explain. if yes, explain. xD because sometimes i want to go for a snack but i dont eat.
(this is the worst topic i've ever made in my life. i feel so stupid.)

One snack *aside* from 3 meals you mean, right?
And 3 lbs of broccoli is very different from 3 lbs of hamburger. Huge difference in calories, fat, fiber, etc. You should go to www.fitday.com, you can set up a profile and enter in different foods to see what's in what.

Ummm
If you're really only eating one snack a day, that's really not healthy.
And eating three pounds of brocoli would probably not only turn you off brocoli for ever after a few days, I'm sure it would also not give you the nutrition you need - you have to have variety in what you eat.
I would recommend checking out www.fitday.com - you can enter in everything you eat and all your activities during the day, and check out the calories you're eating vs. the calories you're burning, as well as seeing if you're meeting your nutrition requirements (vitamins etc). As long as you're burning more calories than you're eating, you won't get fat!
Also - check out some of the threads in the general health forum.
Good luck!

i am glad you found your way here, but there is no such thing as 'half vegetarian.' but, luckily there is such a thing as a 'omni in transition' if you are actively reducing the amount of meat you are eating :)
the advice given is great. it's about calories, not about the weight of the food.
1 gram of fat = 9 calories
1 gram of protein = 4 calories
1 gram of carbs = 4 calories
they all weigh the same.

Ok to start, you need to eat. Concentrate on eating healthy and you'll stay a healthy weight.
I'm not sure what you mean about "half vegetarian"? Are you in transition to being a vegetarian or do you want to continue to eat small amounts of meat?
Definitely 3 pounds of broccoli is nothing like 3 pounds of hamburger. The broccoli is much better for you. That said, I would not recommend you eat meals consisting solely of one vegetable. If you're looking for snack ideas, fruits and vegetables make great healthy snacks.
Please shift your focus away from gaining weight and focus in on eating healthy. Eating 'very little' during the day is no way to live.
I didn't check your age so if you're an adult you'll have to back up to the homepage on this link but it's a start http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/teennutrition.htm.
Good luck :)
