The grocery outlet is an excellent place to find a lot of cheap vegetarian and vegan foods. They always seemed to have the chicken and gravy, sweet and sour chicken, boca lasagna, amy's burgers of some kind and a hole lot of other stuff. The prices are about half what you pay in a regular store so check it out if you haven't, you might be pleasently surprised.

Are they an online store or where are they located - I've never heard of them. I'd like to find somewhere besides whole foods , which is really expensive.

Grocery Outlet is a chain with stores in the western US.
You can find locations on their website http://www.groceryoutlets.com/
I got some Amy's Texas burgers there this weekend for $1.50 a box. Woo!

Sounds like a great store chain. I'm going to ask them to consider opening some stores around MD, Penn and VA. Doesn't hurt to ask I guess. :)
The salad bar and hot bar at Whole Foods is real popular but it costs 5.99 a pound. They need some competition.

Here in North Georgia, Whole Foods is the best place to go for real food. Unfortunately it is also one of the most expensive. Why is it that when you add chemicals and preservatives the cost of the food goes down?

I bought some gardenburger riblets there for $1 :D I try to steer clear of fake meat, but I couldn't resist when it only costs $1!

(*waves to angelene 17*) Good to see you around again!!
I LOVE LOVE Grocery Outlet!! With three kids who eat me out of house and home (and checkbook), it's a lifesaver!!
We just got the same "Amy's" burgers that BPS found... I'd never tried them - they're GOOD! I'll have to look for the GB riblets, the're a huge favorite for my kids, but I can never afford them...

The store isn't really competition for Whole Foods. They get overstocks and damaged items and the like, so their inventory of veggie foods is really variable. They'll have good deals on stuff like those Amy's burgers, then they'll be gone and they never have them again. It's the kind of place that you stop in once a week to see what they have and then go do your regular shopping.

Reply to BPS : Oh, okay I guess I should have figured that from the name.
Sounds like a good store though and the " health nuts" probably do stay on the lookout for good deals on veggie burgers and such that they might have. We need a store, chain or otherwise, that would discount natural foods and cosmetics, they are just so high.
