Which do you most like the taste of?

And which do you think is healthiest?

And with or without sweetener???

I like unsweetened sesame milk best. I have a nut milk maker, which has revolutionised my milk making. You just put the nuts or seeds in the top, put water in the bottom and press the button.

Where do you get a nut milk maker??? I love nut milk-any kind, really. Almond, cashew, peanut. I sweeten it (I am a sweet fiend). Please tell me where I can get one of those!!!

almond's my second favourite :)

actually it was my favourite at first, it's the most "normal" tasting, but now I've developed a love of bitter....sesame milk and sundried olives, the bitterer the better :)

i used to hate bitter.

I live in England - I don't know whether you can buy a nut milk maker in America, sorry. Mine's called a hemp milk maker, but its used for all different types of nuts and seeds. I thought I should try using it to make hemp milk, as thats what its called, but I didn't like it at all.

My mum's favourite is sunflower seed milk.

Hmm, I've never had any nut or seed milks. Interesting.

What is the benefits of drink nut/seed milk over soy milk?
What kinds are there?
Do you have to make them all yourself, or do they sell them premade? I can't see myself being able to afford a special milk making machine (unless it was like $5 or less).

Home made nut/seed milks are raw, soya milk is cooked.
Some people think soya is bad for you but other people think its a superfood, so you have to make up your own mind.
If you think soya is dangerous then obviously you'll think nut/seed milk is preferable.
Nut/seed milk is usually more nutritious - almond and sesame for example are a good source of calcium. Hemp milk is a good source of omega 3.
It all comes down to the difference between soya and nuts and seeds - which do you think is healthiest to eat?

You can buy almond milk from the shops but it isn't raw. I don't know about other milks....

My goodness, that's expensive!

Kpickell - I'm with you, sounds like a cool idea, but I'm not willing to shell out that kind of money.

But, there is another method here (http://www.babyandkidallergies.com/nutseedmilks.php) - a little more labor intensive maybe but doesn't use any specialized equipment.

Now, which nut to try first...:lick:

I prefer almond milk with a bit of vanilla and stevia. Unless it is for a recipe that calls for spicy ingredients. I make my milk v-e-r-y c-r-e-a-m-y, using less water than is usually required.

Probably almond milk sweetened with a bit of stevia is my favorite.

Cairidh-- I love bitter things too. I love sesame seeds and the really bitter sundried olives. I also love bitter greens.

I've never heard of black sesame seeds. What colour's the milk?!

I never understand why nut/seed milks are all white. Was God just trying to be helpful giving us a raw vegan replacement for the white stuff?

Arugula and watercress have a kind of spicy/bitter flavor. Some people think kale is bitter, but I don't think so. I love dandelion.

I don't like watercress, it burns my mouth :(
I love kale smoothies. I've never eaten it by itself (how do you chew it???).

I wish I could find some dandelion :(

I just read on another board somebody say they love pistachio milk - that it's silky and delicious.

I must try it. And I keep meaning to find out if flax milk is possible...

Beet greens are really good too. You could marinate kale. That makes it a lot softer to chew.
