so, we're lacto-ovo vegetarian.
Baylor's daycare provider told us that, yesterday at lunch they had pizza. And milk.
Baylor said "... I don't eat cheese" and proceeded to pull all the cheese off his pizza. When offered milk he said "... no I don't drink milk eitha..." and had water. She asked him why and he said "because cheese is a cow part and so is milk. and we don't eat animal parts..."?!?!?!
We were so shocked- but ya know what? He's right! So, I asked him about it and told him that if he really wanted to NOT eat ANY animal parts then there are alternatives and he knows and likes soy and/or rice milk anyway... I always planned to head down the vegan trail again but had NO IDEA it would be my son prompting me... at THREE YEARS OLD! lol
that is totally mind blowin!
im vegan, and a lil kid taking the next step that young? you are so lucky to have him!!! theres a thread goin here currently about a book called mad cowboy, its really popular and it may give you more insight to vegan ideas... its worth a try...

You must be so proud. What a lovely intelligent boy you have raised! And the best thing is, that you are that rare breed of parent, the kind that actually listen to their kids. No wonder he knows his own mind, he is respected by his parents. Well done all of you.
That one just made my day.

I was vegan for most of my early 20's, so I'm pretty "good around a vegan kitchin". :)
Yes, I'm very proud of him. He's amazingly aware of stuff and demands every detail.
BUT--- don't get me wrong--- he is still just 3. Here's an example of his "less mature" side...
I work at a family practice. Baylor is 3 and has not been vaccinated. He will be going to summer camp 3 days a week this summer and CANNOT go unless he's vaccinated  . So, we decided to do it. He's not been sick so he has little experiance w/ doctors. BUT I NEVER EXPECTED THIS BEHAVIOR. He wouldn't let the nurse (my coworker:sweat: ) measure his head or take his weight or ANYTHING. And she tried. I tried. He FREAKED. At one point he had wedged himself inside a wooden chair in the room and was lashing out at us with his little fists!?!?!?! He SCREAMED and fought the entire time. When the time came it took 3 nurses (one being a large man) and myself to hold him down for the shots. He was so pissed off at me that he gave me the look of death and swung his mighty fists at me on the way out of the office. I left work early to get him home (I had planned on letting him hang out with me but he was having NO PART OF IT). On the way home he said to me "... doctors are idiots". (okay, this comes from my dh letting Bay watch Napolian Dynomite with him... I knew it would come back to haunt us... ). I explained to him that everyone had to go and get shots (Like I had BEFORE the visit) on and on and on. And he replies "... I don't care mommy, I still think they all idiots and I would give THEM a shot if I was bigger...".
Anyway, just wanted to share with you that the bright and enlightend angel also has a dark side!:tame:
i hate shots too btw... and i havent been required to get one since i was 9 or 10... out of luck tho...

look, in the immortal words of my mom (which she says to my dad about me on a near-daily basis): "you raised him that way!"
LOL that's awesome. he's a smart one, isn't he?
one of my clients has been doing yoga with me for 5 years. she has a 4 yr old adopted daughter (adopted at age one). she (DD) wanted to go veggie, so my client asked me how to go about it. i saturated her with information, and now they're both veggie. HA!
kids, gotta love 'em!

WOw! You've got a smart kid!!! I love it when kids stand up for their heatlh.
I was babysitting an eight year old vegan kid last week and it was so cute becuase he made me read him the ingredients on the snacks I had bought for him. I guess he decided they were pure enough because he ate practically all evening! He doesn't eat refined sugar either and he said to me when we were watching Charley and the Chocolate Factory, "I wish those candies were made with stevia, then we could go out there and eat all of them." When his dad got injured, he got some food for him from the buffet at the health institute where I work (His dad is the director) and he explained to his dad why he got each different kind of sprout and vegetable and why he didn't get certain things and he told his dad all about the healing properties of these foods. It was amazing!

I think it's great when we teach our children our beliefs. Then somewhere (sometimes sooner than we think) they take them and make them their own. Very cool!

It is not always the truth.
My parent like to eat meat and worry about me not to eating meat.
I eat vegetebles sometimes to show them my hate for them and enjoy the rebellion in life. someday i will eat meat for my own happiness but never in front of parents.
*claps*
What a smart boy!

Children are often more wise than thier parents! When he's older he may ask you why you ever stopped being vegan and gave him animal products

I can sooo see my dd doing this down the road. HEHE
I've had some of the older kids in the daycare I work at and my dd attends with me, say the don't like milk. The shocked look on their faces when I say "I don't blame you"

That's so cute! I work at a daycare, and some of the stuff the kids get for snacks scares me...

What state are you in??? Many have wavier forms you can fill out and if the camp is federally funded at ALL they have to allow your son to go without his vax if he has that form filled out and signed. Now it depends on if your state has philsophical exemptions or not. Most have medical and religious(but only real religion that supports that is scientoligy because they contain animal byproducts and even some animal genes) ones though. I think only Mississippi has a huge problem getting exemptions.
