And yet Norwegian authorities are going to destruct (burn) the 10,000 seals killed in the eastern territories (i.e. western part of arctic Russia).

According to newspaper articles yesterday, the government subsidises the catch and slaughter of these 10,000 seals with 2.5 mill. NOK (~380.000 USD). And then it pays some company 2 mill. NOK (~308.000 USD) to have them destructed. A government spokesman claims that there's no market for these dead seals, although one company offered 100 NOK (~15 USD) per seal skin. One of the articles explains that the purpose of the seal hunt is not to make profit. "The seal hunt is tradition and culture. And Norway wants to keep the seal population down out of consideration for the ecological balance."

Sure thing  They are being killed because otherwise they would eat the fish that trawler boats are now going to "harvest", and I'm sure they're not doing that without any prospects of making profit. So the lame argument about "ecological balance" only makes any sense if modern trawler boats are considered part of nature, and burning dead seals is considered "ecological".

I love how my tax money is being wasted to subsidise wanton killing and then they try to cover it up with bogus arguments like these.
