So, I haven't had my period in 3 months. The doctor's checkup was normal; he says it's probably because I run so much - it's interfering with my pituitary connection to my ovaries & c. I'm still not terribly disturbed by this because he says I'm quite healthy otherwise and if I were to cut back on my running I'd get it back again (and eventually, when my body gets used to the volume of miles I do, it'll probably come back anyway - so he says).
The question, however, is - is it possible to still get PMS with no period? I haven't had a period in 3 months, as I say, but around the time when I used to get PMS I still get it! No flow, just the mood swings, tearfulness, irritability, etc. Ostensibly, if my pituitary function is messed up, my hormones should be all in flux and that's why no period. So, no hormones should = no PMS, right? But I guess the hormones could still be there and simply not be enough to cause a period.
Now I've read in a couple of places that it's possible for one to still get a period and have it simply be an internal thing because the flow is so light it just gets reabsorbed. And if that's the case then still getting PMS would makes sense. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this?
