That is right my friends, Vidalia Sweet Onions are here. Vidalia Sweet Onions taste different than other onions. They are sweeter and more milder than other onions. This is why they are great for raw foodists. They are great in salads and raw recipes.

You can call 1-800-227-ONION (227-6646) to place your preorder. Trust me, you will like these, they are my favorite onion.

A great way to store these onions are in hanging baskets.

Note: I don't work for Vidalia Onion Factory and in no way benefit from you buying these onions.

Do you not have any love for Vidalia Sweet Onions? I am surprised that I haven't received several replies thanking me for letting you know about them.

If you want to be a real baller, you will pick this onion up and eat it like an apple.

You are a nut.

Whenever I go to the store I always see some kind of sweet onion these days. Not always Vidalia or Walla Walla, sometimes just a general kind of "sweet onion". Is there a big difference?

Anyway, I now buy the sweet variety if I'm not using red or green onions because they tend to be milder. I know they go bad more quickly than the others so I try to use them or else I store them in a dark place. I didn't know that hanging them in the open air was better?

Sharon, hanging onions is a great way to extend their shelf life. Excessive moisture is a reason onions can go bad.

Another tip is to not wash them. Like if you pull them out of your garden. Just lay the onions on flat table and let them dry and that is it. Don't wash the dirt off. I only wash produce just before I eat it, if it is even necessary.

Vidalia Sweet Onions are the only true sweet onion in my opinion. The Walla Walla and these other so called sweet onions are not as mild. If I blind folded you and sliced onions from a variety of sweet onions and let you taste them, you could tell me which one was the Vidalia. After that, I doubt you could differentiate a Walla Walla from any other sweet onion just by taste.

You can call Kadee via 912-654-4577 and order organic Vidalia Sweet Onions and have them shipped to you. Their web address is www.vidaliaorganics.com

If you want to be baller, tell them you want the 50lb box of jumbos. Tell them you like to juice your onions and use them as a chaser when you drink straight habanero pepper sauce. This should leave no doubt in their mind that you are 'bout it 'bout it.

Is vidalia a strain of onions or a brand? I always thought they were a strain, but the way you talk about them it sounds as it is controlled by one company called vadalia.

Jon, Vidalia Sweet Onions are grown in counties around Vidalia, Georgia. The sandy soils of the area and the bacteria that lives in the soils contribute to sweetness of the onion. These onions have sugar contents that are actually higher than apples and pears. They are available starting in late April through June. They are dried and stored though so they can actually be at groceries stores much later than June.

Sweet Vidalia Onions are a state owned trademark. Meaning, different onion producers in Georgia can grow Sweet Vidalia Onions. The onions must be grown in the counties around Vidalia, Georgia. Another words, you can't buy Sweet Vidalia Onions from California, etc..

I would like to remind everyone that last week was the first week that Publix grocery stores started carrying Sweet Vidalia Onions. They should be in a grocery store near you now or very soon. The generally have a sticker on them that indicates they are Sweet Vidalia Onions.

Sorry. But as an old Oregon boy, I'll opt for Walla Wallas anyday of the week. :D
