I'm currently reading "Solviva" by Anna Edey, which describes how to reduce energy use in the home and business by 80% using passive solar technologies. These technologies can be built on new structures or retrofitted on existing structures. I encourage anyone interested in energy technology and sustainable living to take a look at this book.

Here's her website: http://www.solviva.com/

This page describes her low-energy wastewater treatment: http://www.solviva.com/wastewater_management.htm

Comparison of two cities, one like we have now, another as we could have it if we wanted to enough...

Which would you rather have? What would you do to have it?

Really interesting. The author sounds like an amazing person! Are you using any of her plans around your home yet, Ludi?

I just got her book, but I'm planning to install the flushable composting toilet system for our upstairs toilet. We're also starting to build a double veranda on the south side of our house which will be a greenhouse in the winter, but I'm thinking of lobbying for one level or the other to be a year-round greenhouse. There are so many great ideas in her book, I want to do as many as possible, but I'm so overwhelmed with projects as it is, and darn it, I still have to take time out to make a living!

Which reminds me, I better get back to work!
