Hiya!!!

Well I'm working out a lot this month... 6 times a week some weeks 5 times... but I realized that I'm HUNGRY ALL THE TIME!!!! I haven't lost 1 pound, even though I'm more toned... I'd like to lose 7 pounds. I"m not really FAT, at all... but I want to be as thin as I was couple of year aso. I'm 5, 7.5" and I weight 137lbs. I want to be 130... that would be PERFECT!!!! but I'm sooo hungry that I don't know what to do...

How can I lose 7 pounds??? I'm already working out, what's wrong?

Anyone with the same issue?

No, I don't have the same issue. I'm short and fat and trying to get healthy!
BUT I do have some experience with losing weight (and gaining it). You are at a very healthy weight for your height, so I can assume that losing the weight will be difficult. So the best advice I can give you is to focus on eating healthy, whole foods in moderation- eat when you feel hungry, stop when you feel not full, but satisfied. Keep up the workouts and lose the obsession with the number and I bet you will feel and look better than ever.
Also, come post in the Hamsters thread if you aren't already!! Its a motivation/tip sharing thread for anyone who works out! :)

EAT MORE!
If you are working out very hard, especially resistance training you need more energy. ENERGY = FOOD.
Also, you need this food to build the lean muscle you would like (I am assuming) to increase your metabolism. In turn you will burn more fat and calories throughout your day.
Try to eat every 3-4 hours. This will keep that metabolism kicking! If you wait to eat every 8-10 hours, you will make bad choices due to a starvation feeling.
Carla - If your that hungry do not be afraid to eat. YOUR BODY IS TELLING YOU SOMETHING!
Trust me - ALL my clients lose weight when they EAT MORE then they were previously.

When you work out to lose weight your body is building muscle while burning fat. Since muscles weighs more than fat your weight may stay similar but your apperance will be more slim and toned.

muscle does not weigh more than fat.

a pound of muscle and a pound of fat both weigh one pound. get it?

sorry, but it really annoys me when people say this.:)

>>muscle does not weigh more than fat.>>

True.
But muscle is denser than fat. Hence, Lorilye's gist remains correct.

oh, I understand the gist. but the statement is still incorrect, and it's just a pet peeve of mine., because generally women won't weight train because they believe that they will "bulk up" and it's hard to try and get them to understand that they won't, and to let go of the number on the scale and concentrate on how they fit in clothes or body fat percentage. god forbid you tell them they might gain 2 pounds even if it is muscle.

This is so VERY HARD TO GET THROUGH in my business.
For example, we had a lady take our Group Power class which is very high repetition resistance training working every major body part.
After 3 weeks her body changed for the better. She got very lean in just a few short weeks and her clothes were fitting better. Everything was going fine UNTIL.,........................
she stepped on the scale. Her husband told us she gained 2 pounds and she was very upset!
She stopped coming and now DOES NOTHING!
It is a shame, because there are many women and men out thee who are concerned about the scale instead of how good they look and feel.

That is true. I remember watching Corey Everson and she said that she weighed 145 and still wore a size 3.

Yes, I have the same problem too. I'm a swimmer and lately I've been drained of energy. I don't know if I haven't been eating enough (which I doubt is possible) or its just from not getting enough sleep. (I've been sleeping past 2 am almost every day for the past 3 weeks or so, due to the massive amounts of homework and projects I get.)

Or maybe my problem doesn't even relate to this topic.... oops. = ]

Oh, and since going veg- I've gained some weight. (10 lbs.) Kind of hoping to lost it though because now all of my pants are too small for me, and I do not want to buy some new ones. = [

FYI - I have hundreds of people on weight management whether it is to gain, lose or maintain and they ALL think they eat enough before they see me.
Do not be afraid to eat more especially if you are working out hard and staying awake for most of your day.
Also, make sure you are eating something every 3-4 hours. If you wait long periods of time and you are an active person your body will be STARVING for food.

Good Luck..

I've been having the same issue because I've increased my training recently. I have "uncontrolable" snack attacks that are really annoying. Clearly, my body wants more calories to compensate for the increased workload, but I feel like I'm overdoing it. My experience is that over a week or two your body will adjust to the new work load and the cravings will balance themselves out. For now, just make sure you have healthy snacks around the house, so that if you overeat, at least it will be with something relatively healthy (the few junk foods I've had around were devoured days ago, so now I'm on to the healthier stuff).

Please keep in mind if your body 'is asking for food (energy)', you are NOT overeating. Consuming whole grains and good fats (nuts, nut butters) are a great way to satisfy your cravings.
When you have these uncontrolable urges that make you feel like you are starving, you body is in need of food. (this is all based on you increasing your exercise activity)
Please don't be afraid to eat, and I agree with you 100% - HAVE HEALTHY SNACKS AROUND. Fruits, nuts, healthy bars, nut butters. Any of the mentioned together is a great snack to satiate your needs.

This is why I haven't weighed myself in 7-8 months. When I started exercising and watching what I ate a little more carefully, I want to take off some excess flab but i knew that if I built muscle, I might not actually lose weight per se. I just kept an eye on how my clothes fit, how I felt, and how I looked. It has worked really well for me, and I've dropped quite a few sizes.

It's really not good to get hung up on weight numbers.

OMG, you mean you didn't starve yourself, take expensive supplements or caffeine pills, was patient and didn't obsess everyday and ate well, and you lost weight?

you MUST be a genetic anomaly.
