View Full Version : Soyatoo! (vegan whipped topping)

For the past 3 years, I'd always wondered why whipped "cream" was just about the only thing I've never seen attempted to be veganized. Then, I stumbled upon this (http://www.soyatoo.com/) yesterday. I know it's junk food, but I thought it was just cool enough to give it a try and it's actually pretty darn good. The texture is nice and it's just sweet enough. Now, I am not the best candidate to give a good, honest review on a whipped topping since I haven't had anything like that in quite a few years and the only types I've ever had were those junky processed chemical crappers like Reddi-Whip :p ... but I can say it's worlds better than that stuff ever was...
But yeah, I like it. It's neat and would be fun for cupcakes and ice cream and such. I just had a little poof of it on top of lemon Mori-nu pudding :lick: You should try it!

Soyatoo is great, I usually make dessert about once a week (on the weekend when I have time) and this stuff just makes it more enjoyable. Especially on cobblers or fruity things pr soy ice cream...

Ummm....okay....so, like, what, are you guys in Germany? Did I miss something or did it say it was available in markets in Germany? I have been dying for a whipped cream substitute and I haven't found any in my area at all. I was ordering the alpro soya heavy cream from pangea but it wouldn't whip like heavy cream does. So I went out and bought one of those commercial whip cream dispensers and now that I have that, Pangea is backordered with the alpro soya. I can't win!!!!! I want Vegan Whipped Cream!!!!!

Soyatoo has just recently become available in the U.S., so you will (hopefully) be seeing it in stores soon. We are expecting to get our shipment in at Cosmo's within the next few weeks. :lick:

I've had good luck whipping coconut milk with one of those whipped cream dispensers. Just open the can without shaking it and pour off the thick cream from the top. Mix it with a little super-fine sugar (I just grind up regular sugar in the blender), and you're good. It has a very light coconut taste and is very delish.

They must have just recently started selling it there... never saw it there before the last time I went.

Nope, no Whole Foods near me. I was at Wild Oats this weekend (It's about an hour and twenty minutes away) and I forgot to look for it there! I'm sooooo mad!

I ordered a can of this whipped cream (along with a few bags of Tings hehe) from Food Fight and they arrived in the mail today. We were dying to see how it tastes so we sprayed a little dollop to try -- and let me tell you -- it is definitely delicious. It was just the thing I was looking for. So good. And since it is shelf stable there was no problem with shipping from Oregon to New Jersey. I think I'll try this on one of the So Decadent ice creams that Soy Delicious makes. I definitely recommend anyone looking for a yummy vegan whipped cream to check this stuff out.

I bought some today at WFM. It tastes just like real whipped cream. I paid $3.99 for it.

Dang it, my closest Whole Foods didn't have it yet. :brood:
But there's another (larger) WF nearby, so I'll look there next time I visit. Thanks for the info!!

I'm a little weirded out that it's shelf stable. :worried: How do they do that?

Hip Whip has been around for many years, though I
guess it's more like Cool Whip. Has anyone heard
of Rich's Whip? I believe that is vegan too and is
whipped cream.

Is Rich's the stuff in the red and blue can, that kinda looks like a coffee can? I've seen it once but have never tried it. Hip Whip has a slight taste of butt

I just picked up Soyatoo Soy Whip at Whole Foods and I like it pretty well. It has a softer more melty texture than dairy, and it tastes a bit different in the same way that soymilk tastes a bit different from cowmilk. It's sweeter, with that slightly nutty finish. I think if you like soymilk, you'll probably like this.

I love the Soyatoo stuff! I make cobblers and pies all summer long and this is perfect to put on them!
My kids made chocolate pancakes with fresh raspberries for me this AM... we used generic store-brand non-dairy whipped topping (which is cheap and chemically but actually IS dairy free...) but if I'd had the Soy stuff I'd have definitely used it, it just gets used up so FAST around here!

I do and I do! It's really weird because I never really liked :whip: creme before.

Okay, I've looked at 4 (FOUR!) different WF's here and none of them have this stuff...are you guys hogging it all? :)

(Tess is hogging all the other stuff, yeah)

i found it at wild oats tonight. the texture/fluffiness is ok, but it's nowhere near sweet enough and does have a bit of soy aftertaste. i'm disappointed.
