Okay. I have a few questions and don't know where else to ask them. I recently had a miscarriage (in late february) and am not sure when you're generally supposed to get a period after a miscarriage, all I know is I haven't gotten one yet. I'm going back on the pill but thought it best to wait until I get a cycle. I was also wondering if it's possible to get pregnant right after a miscarriage? Before your cycle starts again I mean. :-/
Any answers are appreciated! Thanks.
Oh, and the reason I ask is because I went drinking and had my usual amount, which is usually just enough. But, I ended up being sick (physically throwing up sick) for 12 hours! My mom asked "We're not pregnant are we?" and that got me thinking. I don't want to go through this again.:wall:

I'm not sure that it's all that likely to get pregnant right after a miscarriage, but I don't know any reason it wouldn't be possible. If you ovulated, had sex, and had some uterine lining to attach to, you very well could be pregnant. I suggest a test!

I think it is possible, just not likely. But you should go see your doctor and have them do a test, to make sure you're alright and see if you're pregnant or not.

Hey, thanks. I was just hoping somebody would have more information regarding miscarriages and such.

It can take up to eight weeks to have your first period after a miscarriage, and you can get pregnant on your first cycle. Get a pregnancy test to be sure.

Typically, women ovulate before they have a period after miscarriage. Periods happen after the egg is released in ovulating women. If you want to give your system some time before you start the BC pills again you should use a barrier method of BC. If you have a little money and time get one of Zoebird's favorite books: Garden of Fertility. Gives you all the details about women's reproductive cycles in nauseating detail.

You know, you may just be sick. It happens. People just catch things.
I thought that after a pregnancy all the hormones can make you MORE fertile and that you're just not supposed to get pregnant again right after to let your body have a chance to heal.

You get pregnant in your tubes, then it emplants in your womb. Pregnancies shortly after miscarriages can and do happen, but they are also high percent to be miscarriages again because everything had not got sorted back out. Get a test in about 3 weeks.

Could you just do a test? Where I live, they sale tests at the dollar tree, and when my friend used them, they were accuret (thankfully- not preg). They say that they are 99.99% accurate, so why not try one?
And contacting your doctor would also be good. Ask him/her when you should be getting your period again, and express your concern. Also, he/she may have some advice, like ways to help your systom heal faster.
Good luck! I'm sorry about the miscariage, best of luck to you in later pregnancies (or the current one).

not sure if you're in a stable monogomous relationship or not but just want to point out that you can and should use condoms until you get back on the pill
as for the being sick after drinking: did you eat and/or sleep enough that day? i've gotten sick off one drink before because i hadn't eaten and didn't get much sleep the night before. also your body went through something traumatic, your system is still wacky, giving the booze a rest til you're totally back on track wouldn't be a bad idea ;) it was likely just your body's way of saying 'hold up we're not ready for that kinda junk yet'
but yes get tested in a couple weeks just in case

it's possible - you're supposed to wait at least 1-2 cycles after a miscarriage to try again, but i'm not sure what happens if you don't
