I had my first serving this am, & I must say I am feeling full & energized!!
Maybe that's what it will take to lose weight: VEGA every am, & hoodia after supper every night?

I have had a VEGA shake every day for almost 2 weeks & I notice I am losing weight but I can't give you #s yet, I don't have a scale.
I notice my energy is WAAAY improved too.
Plus it's organic, non_GMO & vegan!!!

Do you actually find it satisfying though?
I always feel hungrier after a non solid meal, even if it has enough protein and calories, like a protein smoothie or something.

Wow, thanks for the link.
Very interesting.. hmmm, maybe it can help with my energy to run.
How many shake a day do you drink it organica?

What about the taste? I'm kind of a baby when it comes to taking something that's good for me but I don't like the taste. I just can't bring myself to swallow it. I love the idea of a shake that isn't terribly fattening, not even to use for losing weight, but for something to grab occasionally when I'm in a rush, or even a snack. So, what say you, is it good, or just tolerable?

It tastes AMAZING!! I add frozen blueberries, banana, coconut & cinnamon + soymilk to 1 scoop of chocolate VEGA.
It is satisfying too. I found other shakes v. unsatisfying in the past. I think VEGA must stabilize my blood sugar or something.
My pants are fitting looser!! :)

whats your update on Vega and Hoodia?
Well, I got weighed at the naturopath this past week, & I have lost 5 lbs & she says I look like I weigh "around 135" & I "look nothing like a fat person". :guitar: (My ideal weight is around 160-150 lbs- I'm 5'6" & naturally muscular & large-framed).
I'm happy to report my appetite is much decreased & my energy levels seem better- I am not "crashing" in the afternoons when I start the day w/ one VEGA shake, & I have stopped eating at night after 8 pm, I now just sip hoodia as needed.
I am going to stay w/ this regime until I get down to 160 lbs I think. I was up to almost 200 lbs only last September, so I think I am doing great. I am losing faster now although I don't have time to exercise much.
Hope this helps.
Edit to add: I am now 175 lbs.

What is the cost of Vega like where you are?
I am in Canada and I was all excited to see it in GNC. But it was just so expensive! I think it was about $40 for the small bottle (7 servings) and $80 for the large bottle (16 servings). I really want to try it. Maybe they will get in the individual servings and I can at least see if I like it before paying for a bigger bottle.

Organica is in Canada too. (as am I). I know it's expensive where she is.
It's also expensive where I am. (Cowtown)

i haven't tried the shake powder, but the vega bars are possibly the most fowl-tasting thing i've ever tasted. (and i like virtually everything)...for whatever it's worth.

I suppose you mean foul tasting, not fowl tasting.. cause I can't recall any chicken being in there! ;)
But seriously, I've tried the berry vega bar, and while it wasn't great, it was not particularly bad either. Maybe you're not used to raw food bars, lilac? Or perhaps you got a bad one!
As for the shakes.. well I've tried the sample, which is 1/3 of one portion (just that costs $2.60...), and I've got to say I could not bring myself to drink it all. I just mixed it with water as recommanded on the package. It probably is better when mixed with soymilk and fruit like Organica does, but still I don't think I'd buy it again, especially not at that price. I am willing to pay more for good food, I sometimes pay twice as much for a good quality product than for its supermarket counterpart, so that's not the issue. But this is just *too* expensive!

My sentiments exactly...and if you are going to go through the trouble to mix *something* with soymilk and fruit anyway, why not just save the money and spend it on something like hemp protein or pea protein powder and get good nutrition and fiber for much less money? Better yet, mix it with fresh raw juice, hemp protein powder and fruit and have a 100% raw, high protein and high fiber meal? :pibo:

But Vega contains those things!!:-/ (Hemp & pea protein)
I buy it because it costs more to get all the individual things & create your own, as I was previously doing.
Also here's a hint: only use one scooop, not the recommended 2, at a time.
I am 175 lbs & wearing my old size 10 jeans, down from size 14!! I don't look 175 either, I look hot, in the view of everyone from my naturopath to my nutritionist to my bf to my psychiatrist, all of whom were quite conscerned about my former obesity (192 lbs & 5'6").

So buying hemp and pea protein costs more in Canada than the Vega itself? That isn't true in the USA, but I am glad you found what works for you and congratulate you on your recent health revolution :)
All I am saying is that Vegan doesn't contain any "miracle" ingredients and if you are going to mix a powder with soymilk and fruit it may as well be a simple, raw whole foods protein that is high in fiber like hempseed *if* the hempseed powder costs less than Vega (which, where I have looked in the USA, it does) because all the other ingredients in Vega are in such minute amounts that it doesn't significantly impact your health one way or another. So, if it's cheaper for you to buy Vega than hemp protein, than that's great! If Vega cost less than hemp protein here I would buy it on occasion too, but ounce for ounce it is several times more expensive here :(

:(
Hemp protein on its own does not cost nearly as much as VEGA, but I buy VEGA for its adaptogenic ingedient (maca) which is v. expensive on its own, plus its chlorella (which eliminates the need to buy a separate green drink, as it's the most perfect of all the green superfoods according to Brendan Brazier's book Thrive).
I just bought an $80 (tax included) huge bottle of VEGA which should last about 2 months. This eliminates the need for the $20 hemp protein, $25 pea protein, $60 maca, $35-50 green drink costs over the same period.
One thing I love about VEGA is how good it tastes, & how filling it is. A plain hemp protein powder doesn't hold a candle to VEGA in terms of taste, satiety or nutritive value.
And VEGA is a whole-foods product.

Do you know how much Maca and Chlorella is in Vega? All the information I could find was "a full serving". I am wondering whether it is the 1.5 grams his books says we should get, the 2.5 grams his books says is even better, or the 7.5 grams he uses? I am just trying to price out the ingredients seperately to compare it to the cost of the Vega mix.
Anyone who has drank it just mixed with water....is it good?

I just had my the Vega berry flavored one - and I must say it was really good! I mixed it with cold water and it was tasty. All I have to do now is wait and see if I get hungry soon :)

I'm really interested in a non-dairy protein powder - at least one I can tolerate.
Any idea where to buy Vega? Is there another one out there (I see this thread is kinda-old.)

Here is the link to find a store near you.

Just bought the single-serve packets of Vega in Chocolate and Berry flavors. Had my first Vega shake in the Chocolate Flavor a little bit ago. It was tolerable...definitely worth the benefits! Personally, Green Superfood in chocolate flavor is better if we're talking purely flavor. I have yet to try the Berry, but am looking forward to it. I got mine at Whole Foods.

On the Vega label it says to drink immediately, but is this necessary? I am wondering if it will be okay to mix with some juice and then bring it to work and drink say 2 or 3 hours after mixing.
