I think that the extra walking is really helping as I am up to 5 miles a day now and I actually started eating more food too so I am not starving and getting headaches like before. I must have slowed my metabolism down somehow. No low blood sugar either and I even ate a banana this morning which usually makes me get a reaction but it didn't. I have been having oatmeal every single morning now with fruit and a tsp of nuts instead of my usual wheatabix. I think I will try to avoid wheat and see what happens. Love the recipes on this board. I made some baked falafels last night for supper with a salad and a homemade low fat mint and yogurt dressing. My husband even liked them and he is picky about his food. We are having szechuan tofu stir fry tonight with loads of veg. We are having our garden hard landscaping done which will be finished by April just in time to plant loads of veg. I decided to do an edible landscape in our tiny plot. Unfortunately, I have 2 acre dreams and a postage stamp garden but I bought a book called Edible Container Gardening yesterday and so I am going to try doing things in pots.

holy  !

7 pounds in a week sounds on the very, very high side. I was under the impression loosing that much that fast wasn't actually very healthy!

Are you eating enough calories to avoid loosing muscle mass?

congratulations! it sounds like you are doing all the right things, keep up the good work.

but i have to ask, are you sure you aren't just losing water weight? the accepted theory, i think, is that burning 3500 calories = losing 1 lb. (anyone else heard this?) according to that, in order to lose 1 lb over 7 days, you need to expend 500 more calories than you consume, very basically speaking.

weight fluctuates by a few lbs daily based on how much water you drink, when you ate, when you last pooped, etc. so you can't always put too much stock into how much you weigh at one point, but rather how much it changes in general over a few weeks...

either way you are doing the right things so keep it up!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I just started my lowfat-vegan diet today. Can't wait to start producing my own veggies too!

It's impossible to lose 7 pounds of fat in one week. 1-2 pounds a week tends to be a healthy rate at which to lose weight. Chances are you lost water weight. Make sure you're drinking enough fluids!

Sounds like you're on the right track! Eat healthy and exercise and you'll be seeing lots of great results :)

Jealous, I want to do that, but I can't be bothered walking that far each day. I normally bike it though, but that's probably only about half the effort. :)

I don't care whether it was water or fat, something has to come off. According to Weight Watchers points system which I am following, I am eating enough calories. But to be fair I didn't say I was following the points system. Thank you positive people though for being encouraging. There are always people who have to have their negative say. As for water, I drink 2.5 to 3 litres of water a day which should be plenty. I am sure there will also be complaints about me walking 5 miles a day and people saying that is not enough exercise. Unfortunately, with a previously fractured back, missing disc from my right shoulder and fibromyalgia, spending 3 hours a day commuting to and from work, etc. I don't have time to spend 2 hours a day working out on weights in the gym.

I don't think so:\
I guess they meant the people expressing some concern heh.
Though, yeah I don't really see how that's negative
