You know those machines that are filled with stuffed toys and you put in a dollar to try and move the crane around and pick up a stuffed toy and then drop it into the hole to win it? (hope this makes sense.)
Anway, I was at a local sports bar recently and I was horrified to see the same machine, only it was filled with water and there were live lobsters in it. For 2 bucks a shot, you could take a chance at grabbing one of the lobsters with the crane, picking it up and then moving over to the "hole" and dropping it. If you win, you get the lobster cooked with a side of butter and coleslaw for $3.75. I was absolutely broken hearted and at the same time infuriated to see this! I asked for the manager and I told him how terrible I felt about this "game" being in the sports bar. He basically laughed at me and said that it's very popular with the customers. He knew I was upset, so he tried to make me feel better by saying that it's very difficult for anyone to actually win one of the lobsters. That didn't help me feel better at all. I'll never go to that dumpy place again, and I made sure to let him know that.
Just wondering - has anyone else ever seen this before?

Yeah!
Its usually called "Lobster Zone" and the lobster liberation website is very against it.
Here's a link to the site. http://www.lobsterlib.com/zone.html
They say that the lobsters become nervous when the music goes on, because they know the crane is coming down.

wow, that's horrible! how can people do that?! their lives are miserable, and their last few moments must be painful....aside from being cooked. i mean who wants to be picked up by a stupid metal crane and DROPPED??? why do people not understand that lobsters, pigs, cows, dogs, cats, horses, they're all animals! they all feel pain, hope, love, etc. grrrr people make me soo mad sometimes

Thank you SO much for the info about the Loberster liberation website. I didn't know this group exisited. I'm taking their advice and I will be writing a letter to the sports bar asking that the contraption be removed. I will then write a letter to the editor of our local paper, like the website suggested. This issue is going to be my new mission for the coming week. I really appreciate your help and information!

I visited the website, and requested for a few of their “Being Boiled Hurts” stickers. I'm planning to stick them on tanks at my local grovery stores. I was wondering how the owners of the stores would think. Is it bad to put a sticker on their tanks? Is it my right of freedom of speech?

Your freedom of speech does not extend to defacing private property, unfortunately. You'd be violating the store's right not to be vandalized. (Yes, that would be considered vandalism.) We should try to get rid of our reputations as law-breaking crazy vigilantes.
I mean, why can't Joe Bob in the dairy industry stick his "Veal is yummy" bumper sticker on your car? It's his freedom of speech, isn't it?

I think you should do it, but don't let anyone see you!
Also, make sure there aren't any camera around.
I have anti-fur stickers that I want to stick in public bathrooms.
But, I guess maintenance would just pull them off.

Lol, yeah, when my daughter goes to the mall, I give her some hermit crab stickers from peta to stick on the "death camp" at "Romancing the Stone". I'm so against law-breaking but people need to think before they buy. Defacing property is bad but capturing, caging and killing an animal is so much worse.
