:junk:

ok, so for the first time in about a year, I've joined a gym. the uni one is ridiculously cheap so..what the hey.
my excersise for a while has just been (an absurd amount of) walking, to the market, to school, everywhere. but thats about it.
and before that, had the whole elite sport thing happening for years, then nothing at all, then a gym junky phase, then banned from working out and the rest is history.
anyway, im fine with my body, its actually more just for the whole release thing. i just..i love sweating, climbing, working hard and i really miss that.
and fitness would be good, coz theres not much of that right now :boobies:
but the thing is..
i know all about the gym. i was in one for years, doing gymnastics strength work and what not, i know about weights, rowers, treadmills,
i know how to lose weight rapidly, how to push myself to the edge, haven't done it for a while but i know that stuff inside out but thats not what i want.

what kind of stuff is good for just...moderation type training? Its probably a dumb question, but i dont really wanna go overboard, and i dont need to be doing the weights that i was, and I'm not really sure where to start, to be honest??

i know its a broad one  but yeah. going this afternoon...hope nobody laughs at me  ...

Are you talking about training in the gym or outside? For outside, My favorite is rollerskating/rollerblading. Great exercise, but also fun and relaxing.

What kind of classes do they have? Any yoga, pilates, tai chi, martial arts, aerobics?

GB- my sentiments exactly but i guess i should develop some strength elsewhere. plus its RIGHT on campus. (im so sucked into convenience...)

Elena- theyve got it all. but yoga etc costs extra. aerobics and pump and spinning (wtf is spinning ? is that with bikes) is free with membership.

and i can't decide whether to take out the (insanely cheap) membership, or go casually to see if i really do it. aaa.

Nothing beats a good sessions of circuit training, 3 or 4 times through followed by about 20 minutes of cardio. Include 1-2 minutes of cardio in the middle of the circuit to get that heart rate up adn stay up. (but not to high where you can't do much)
When you follow with a cardio session, change it up daily between a bike, treadmill, rower and elliptical.
Ask if you can use the group fitness room when it is empty and do some fun jogging, sprinting, jumping rope, suicides, rabbit hops etc.
also, change up your routine. Have an all core day. Core Performans by Mark Vergestenis an awesome book with great core exercises. Put a workout together from there or just google Core exercises and you shold find plenty of good exercises to make a workout with. Also, look for medicine ball exercises.

This is all different from traditional weight lifting and much better for you!

Good Luck!

Spinning is with bikes. The instructor tells you when to speed up, slow down, stand on the pedals, adjust the settings so it's harder/easier, etc. I hate spinning class. But that's mostly because I don't like being on one machine for an hour, especially if it's an indoor bicycle. You might like it.

i think weight training, full body, twice a week would be good, with cardio in between. eahc workout will be about 45 minutes.
