I know I don't. I would like to be more active and am perfectly capable of doing so, but I lack motivation. Eventually, I will get my butt up and move more. I know we have a lot of fitness people on VB, but I'm curious to see who doesn't exercise. Do you wish you did? What do you see as your motivation?

:hi:
Uhh, I'm required to take gym class for about 7 months during the school year, but that's only about half an hour for four days a week and I wouldn't really classify that as exercise.
So here I am, non-exerciser! I'm just like you, I lack motivation.

my main exercise is running after a toddler and picking up the house...and the toddler/ i kind of miss the days when i did exercise. if i had the time to myself, i would like to do more hiking and biking.
i'm outta shape...alas.

I don't exercise...wish I did. My motivation is getting back into physical shape, not to run marathons or whatever, just to be physically fit and healthy. I've had multiple painful muscle spasms in the past couple of years, and I'm convinced it's because I don't exercise my muscles. I also want to work on the most important muscle - my heart. Plus, I want to get back some of the stamina I had when I was younger.

I don't exercise much. I go to yoga once a week as a compulsary 'enrichment' activity at school, and I walk to school and back (2 miles or so each way). I don't really do voluntary exercise.

Me, not so much. Badminton season starts soon, so I'll probably excercise then, but I haven't really done anything all winter.

Guys please start doing something... Believe me when you start working out you JUST CAN'T STOP!!! It's addictive... Start little by little... maybe 20 minutes 3 times a week and increase your activity from there. The key to success is to find something that you like and enjoy doing :)
In my case I love doing exersice tapes/dvd mostly pilates, weight tranning, taebo, etc. I go to the gym also and I try different classes like yoga, spinning, steps etc. Variety is key too so you don't get bored....
But as I say before you can start just walking on getting a couple of DVD's and do them at home. If you are interested in more suggestions as far as home DVD workouts, PM me... and I can give my favorite list!!

I haven't worked out for the last 3 months but I'm going to get back into it. Actually I decided that the other day. I feel better and so much happier when I move more. Although I hate it because I lose weight too easily and I prefer not to be too skinny. I'm just staying away from aerobics.
I'm determined to flatten my abs once and for all. Nobody is going to do it for me-although I wish!

many people think they are fine until they have to walk a flight of 50 steps..exercise is not ony about th looks...it should come from the inside out.
Concentrate on your energy system..your heart, lungs and endurance to be a much healthier you :)
Not a lecture..just something to think about :)
How many times do we hear that so and so 'was in great shape. can't beleive he/she had a heart attack'?

I used to be the worst person for never doing any physical activity whatsoever. I managed to get out of PE classes at school for nearly 2 years. Thoughout my teen years i pretty much did nothing. Now i'm getting to be an exersize junky, i'm addicted. Last year i started running and cycling. Now i absolutly love it, to me theres nothing quite like getting up in the morning with the sun rising or going out in the evening just as the sun sets, running a few miles and coming home to that ahhh used muscle feeling. I have to admit sometimes i lack motivation and go through a week or two with doing very little but somehow i manage to get out there again. I'm a hugely competitive person, so i think that has something to do with it. I love trying to beat myself, and improving constantly. I dont really cylce anymore, runnings my main thing but any activity now i tend to find fun, wish i could find a few more sports to try actually.

I don't do any formal exercise but I do a great deal of physical labor most days- lifting, carrying, digging, etc and walking.

At the moment im not exercising... i mean i'll make it to the gym maybe once a week or two weeks but its my off season. I run cross country summer-before winter starts soo i exercise like crazy then. At the moment im 5'6 98 lbs and i NEED to workout. I lost all the muscle i built up from cross country and if i dont start packing on muscle soon i'll die during cross country. I'm just too lazy to get off my 16 year old butt :) I tried to gain weight by eating a lot and eating fatty healthy foods like avocados, nuts, ect but nothing is staying on me soo hitting the gym is my last choice

I work out for about 45mins, 3 times a week, and steps kill me! I think there's something wrong with my legs though, as they really hurt when i'm walking. I can walk fast for about 1 minute, then i start to get these weird pains, if u can call them that, like tingling up the back of my legs and really uncomfortable. I have to slow right down. No idea why it happens! I have only just started to exercise regularly. I go through phases though, of exercising regularly, then doing nothing, and the time varies.

I'm not a fan of working out. Soccer, DDR, running around with friends...sure. But conventional working out, no.
I don't really "exercise". I don't go out on walks. I don't run. I hate gyms. I do, however, play DDR...bike when I can...walk to school each and every day...etc.
I am very much in shape though seeing as I used to be a seasoned runner but I got lazy :D I still have no problem with running a couple miles. It takes a lot to wear me out.

See, I consider that exercise. I'm talking about people who are pretty much sedentary with limited physical activity.

You sound like me. Sometimes I'll go for long walks, but I used to be much more regular about it. I used to walk 2-4 miles almost every day but now I hardly get that once a week. Back in high school, I loved gym class, and participated in some sports classes. In college, took yoga very briefly and loved it.
I need to start getting some more exercise though. I'm in the middle of trying to lose a bunch of weight and at a giant plateau.

Hmm. I am an off and on exerciser. I always walk to class, but I wouldn't say that amounts to all that much weekly.

I used to excericse quite a bit, but winter has me turned off of it. Ugh. Why go outside to get to the gym (or go outside at all!) when I can just sit on my butt instead? I do little things like walking, climbing stairs instead of the elevator. I guess those don't really count, but I figure it is better than nothing at all.
However, I have plans to go to the gym tomorrow!

I *used* to be a complete non-exerciser. I didn't even walk places. To and from my car, pretty much. No forced gym class, no dancing, nothing. I was completely, 100% sedentary until September, when I realized a) it was really not beneficial to my health and b) the size of clothing I was buying was a fair bit higher than it had been just two years prior.
So now I exercise at least 5 times a week. Not hard core, just running on the elliptical for 5k, yoga videos, weights, etc. We already had a gym in our basement, it was just a matter of using it. I don't really enjoy it, but I do enjoy the results- both the energizing aspects, and weight loss aspects. I was doing more exercise in the fall, but winter's hard.
