I'm using Jane Iredale now, which still has beeswax & carmine. So do Logona & Ecco Bella, my old faves.
I'm interested in vegan cosmetics that don't rely on petrochemicals & other crap.
Does such a line exist?

When I became vegan more than 4 years ago, I searched and searched for vegan beauty that would suit my needs. I didn't like what I found in the health food stores. Yep, it was natural, but rarely vegan. Every internet search I did at the time kept bringing me back to Arbonne. The more I learned about the line, the more I loved it. Arbonne has never used mineral oil, petrolatum, petroleum in their formulations. Ever. And the company has been around for more than 25 years. Never, ever tested on animals...never, ever using animal by-products or human or animal ingredients of any kind in the skin care and makeup. Their tagline is "pure, safe, beneficial". I was impressed right from the start.
Yep, I am a self declared makeup and product junkie. I wanted it all! I didn't want to pay full price, so I decided to become a consultant. I made it into a career and became a district manager. About a year ago, I got more good news: Arbonne recieved the vegan seal.
So, my favorite is Arbonne. :D
Everyone probably gets tired of me talking about this, so I'll shut up now. :p

I use Arbonne right now, but there's a post by Tiggzie around here that talks about vegan products from Avon as well.

So Arbonne doesn't have other crap like propylene glycol, coal tar based colourings or parabens? You've mentioned the line before but I couldn't find ingedient listings in full on the website.
I'd be willing to try Arbonne if I knew it was vegan & 100% natural.
Would you be able to tell me if they are 100% natural?

Arbonne uses parabens at less than 0.5% to protect the products from yeast, mold, and bacteria. According to an information sheet I have here, antioxidants are natural preservatives, protecting a product from oxidation, but not from yeast, mold, and bacteria. Using less than 0.5% parabens plus antioxidants offers broad spectrum protection against rancidity.
I did a search in our database for propylene glycol and found variations of that which appear to be plant based. (Propylene Glycol Laurate: plant: function: Emollient, Emulsifier and Propylene Glycol Stearate: source: plant function: Conditioner, Emulsifier, Thickener) Perhaps you can tell me what's bad about propylene glycol because I haven't heard anything.
The colorings in our cosmetics come from minerals. No coal tar!
We are not 100% natural in that we use science blended with nature. Pure, safe and beneficial is our motto.
If you want to see ingredient lists for any product you have your eye on, please send me an email. :)

I think I am looking for something that is 100% natural, preferably organic, but vegan too.
Sally, Arbonne sounds good but I am just paranoid about parabens & propylene glycol. I can pm you if you'd like to hear why.
Urban Decay is heavily chemical, or at least it was when I used it a few years back. :(

I think I will be sticking to Jane Iredale & Ecco Bella, because they don't have anything except beeswax & carmine that scares me off. I guess I'm a bad vegan, but I just can't get into chemicals, no matter how benign.

I don't think I use any completely vegan beauty lines... the closest are Kiss My Face and Nature's Gate, but I know KMF uses honey in some products, and I remember Nature's Gate using something non vegan...
