Does anyone here surf?

Definately a fun way to get a good workout. I like to lap swim, but when the surf's up, my butt's out of the pool and I'm off to the beach. I live on Long Island NY, which isn't the ideal place to be a surfer (it's flat most of the time), but when we get a noreaster coming up the coast, the ocean comes alive and there's nice icy cold barrels to be had in my neck of the coast. Just curious to see if there's any surfer's out there.

I tried it once and was a bit useless at it. It was scarier than it looked. Some of the waves here in Australia can get pretty big and I was too afraid of getting dumped down hard and hurting myself. But yeah, fantastic way to work out if you've got the ability :)

I tried it once. I might try again sometime, after I lose some weight, and develop some upper body strength. You need really strong arms and shoulders to move that board.

There's a sweet surf spot right down the road from me, and it's fun to go down there and watch the surfers who know what they're doing. I live in Hawaii, so I'm surrounded by surf nuts!

My husband and I took surfing lessons when we were in Hawaii, and I LOVED it! It was the most amazing feeling ever to be standing on that board and feel the whole ocean moving underneath me. I would love to do it again.

Sadly, there's not much opportunity to surf in the middle of Alberta...

Reminds me of the movie Point Break. I am just jealous of the people that live by the ocean.:stinkeye: I would love to try it. All I got is water skiing.:p
