Are you a new veggie or a new mom? Or both? I'm no mom but I'm a new veggie. I've got my recipes online at Simple Vegetarian Recipes (http://www.simple-vegetarian-recipes.com) if you want them.

There are a bunch of great and helpful threads here, which you've probably already discovered if you've wandered futher down the boards...
Lots of people here on VB have been vegetarian for a long time, and are raising their kids to make the same healthy and compassionate choices.
Check out the "What did you feed your kids today?" thread, http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?p=1157358#post1157358 or this one with vegan lunchbox ideas - which are probably a bit advanced for your 11 month old, but still great ideas. http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=48800
Off the top of my head, Rincaro, peacecat, SystmDwnGrl2... I've read awesome "veggie-mom" posts from these guys, keep an eye out for posts by them...

I never used baby food with my 3 yo and don't plan to for this new one either. My kids eat what we eat. For Ben, I cooked a little extra of whatever veggie we were having, blended it and froze it. This time, I'm planning to either skip purees all together and give table food, or get a little hand grinder.
Your baby is 11 months, so I'm assuming past the puree stage. He can eat anything that you can smoosh between your fingers. Breast milk or formula should still make up the majority of baby's diet until at least 12 months, and you should avoid allergenic foods like peanut butter and maybe soy.
I loved this website, but the link isn't working right now. Hopefuly it'll come back up soon.

My son and I are vegan. In fact, I went vegan the day he was born, just over 4 years ago. "Super Baby Foods" by Ruth Yaron was my lifesaver when my son was your son's age. You might be able to find a copy at your local used book store.

Hey, I was going to suggest that book! It's a wonderful book. I found it at my library, and I still check it out from time to time, and my kids are not babies anymore.
Another good book is the La Leche League cookbook. It isn't a vegetarian cookbook, but there are plenty of veggie recipes and they are healthy.
All the best to you!

I just saw a GREAT vegan blog about a vegan mom packing her little kid's lunch every day. I think it is called Vegan Lunchbox:

What a fantastic blog, Quip. Thanks for posting that! :pibo:
Isn't it great? I love looking at her lunchboxes -- I wish she'd make mine everyday too!
newveggiemom, are your kids ovo-lacto or vegan?

I want to stress here that "Super Baby Foods" is not a vegan or vegetarian book, but does focus on whole foods.

I read vegetarian Children and Becoming Vegan. It was loaded with tons of information. My daughter has been veg since she was 2 and my son was raised veg and both are very healthy. My best advice is to read everything that you can get your hands on and apply what works for you. Good luck!
