Has it effected anybody, in a positive/negetive way?

For me, it's been a positive way (being vegetarian). Since I stopped eating meat, we rarely eat at McDonalds (well, when they do, it's maybe once every 5-6 months). It's mostly Subway. We've also included new various healthy foods, so I'm happy about that.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this same 'experience'.

I have, no doubt about it. My experience with changing over to being vegetarian, so far, has been a positive one. Though my boyfriend is not vegetarian, we have been eating much healthier!

Since becoming vegetarian, and teaching my family and friends about the meat and dairy industries, my mother, grandmother and friends only buy organic eggs, and my better-off friends buy organic milk. They all agree the organic products taste better, which keeps them coming back for more.

My brother in law and his girlfriend have followed my husband and I and have becoming vegetarian as well. :-)

My friends have also stopped eating at fast food restaurants :) can't get my family to do that though.

My experience has been incredibly positive. My family has become far more away about the meat and dairy industries and they have been nothing but supportive. My grandparents even cook with soy meats and cheese now (mostly for health, but hey!)

I have also influenced (without any pressure) about 6 ppl to go veg and many more to be aware of the sacred nature of meat and to respect their meals more, and reduce their intake of meat.

It also showed to me my ex BF's true lack of support when things are important to me, so, overall- very positive experience!

Both.
My girlfriend has gone veg since I did, not entirely down to me but I believe it was partly cos of me. I also hope that my trying to give up dairy is starting to make her feel as if vegans aren't as crazy as she once thought, though I'm pretty sure she'll never be one. My sister is veggie now, and I had something to do with that by persuading her to try it for vegetarian week - after that, she only had fish a couple of times before going veggie for good. My dad eats veggie a lot more because he lives in a house with veggies, but he also picks a veggie option when we go out or get a takeaway, usually.

It seems to upset/anger one of my friends, who pretty strongly dislikes vegetarianism. A couple of my relatives make snide comments.

I guess, on the whole, it has been hugely positive.

i think my veg*nism has had a positive impact on my life. I'm healthier and more aware of what is and is not going into what i'm consuming. my coffee is only fair-trade organic and i work hard to buy what i can in terms of organic foods.

my mother has gone almost lacto-ovo veg.. she cooks vegan foods quite frequently, and very rarely eats meat. while she will occasionally have meat, the last time i was home for a visit, the only meat in the house was tunafish and kosher beef hotdogs. the rest of the "meat" was meat-replacements.. i have a friend who, since i went veggie, rarely eats beef, and i have a cousin who, after i lived with his family for the summer, won't eat beef (unless it's a steak.. silly boys) and is slowly realizing that other commercial meat products are not the best foods for his health..

At first it was negative... my weight dropped and I became vitamin deficient. I then went to a nutritionist and got a better diet plan with some vitamin supplements. I now feel better and more energetic than ever...

I became vegetarian for health reasons. I lost 14lbs without even making an effort and my mysterious, weekend stomach pains suddenly disappeared. From vegetarianism, I was introduced to yoga, developed a green thumb and became vegan.

My father, who for years said that I should "at least eat fish," told me in 2005 that he wanted to gradually cut out meat- except for fish! Regardless, it is a start.

My boyfriend, who thought I was crazy when I turned vegan, said I have gotten him to become more health conscious. He enjoys following me to the health food store.

A few people at work, wanting to improve their health, have also inquired about my eating habits and lifestyle.

I know I have the same thing with Mcdonalds. My daughter who is an omni, will no longer eat the chicken nuggets at Mcdonalds, saying they 'taste gross'. We eat there maybe once every year or something...if that. I think it has also had a positive effect on some of my friends. We eat a lot less processed food and are healthier. And the friends I've made seem at least marginally interested in vegetarianism because of me.

I am proud of myself that I can put together nutritious (and edible) meals that don't contain meat. We do almost all our cooking at home now. We might get a takeout meal once or twice a month. And my 6 year old daughter has decided to stop eating meat. My cholesterol has also gone down by 30 points in the last 5 months, and I've been successfully losing weight.
