As you all may or may not know (most wine is NOT vegan) vegan wine is hard to come by. There are 5 Wineries that guarantee their wines are not only Organic but also Vegan. Frey is one of those. http://www.freywine.com
I was under the impression that you had to order this wine online and wait for it to be delivered to you. However, I found some today at Total Wine and More in Manassas, Virginia. It was only $7.99 for a 750 ml bottle.
I expected it to maybe be a little weaker than the wines I used to drink. I was wrong. This is pure and strong. Just for comparison, normally a bottle of red wine (a merlot or cabernet perhaps) is 12 to 12.5% alcohol by volume. This Organic Vegan wine is 13.9% by volume.
I purchased the Natural Red (California Red Table Wine)... simply because it was the only one carried by my store. I would say that this wine is Tart. The bouquet is nice, but for the correct flavor on the palatte either it needs to age (and there's no year printed on the bottle) or it is a "cheap" wine.
Positives: not too expensive and relatively guilt free drink (being organic and vegan)
For myself, I'm going to keep looking. I just thought it would be nice to share my vegan wine tasting with you. :beatnik:
