I have no idea what to get my boyfriend for Valentines day.
We've been going out for about 9 months and its our first V-day, and frankly, I haven't been able to figure out what to get him. Does anyone have any ideas?

anything home made seems to work well--food creative projects, whatever.
my husband and i don't really do holidays, so it's not something i think about.

I'm more focused on finding someone to actually celebrate V-day WITH, so I don't know what to tell you. I don't think guys really care about v-day anyway, but if you feel the need to do something you can always treat him to dinner.

I'm going to get my bf a copy of The Little Prince (I'm sure he's never read it), cause he and I remind me of the little prince and the fox.
Also going to make some cookies.

Home made stuff is EXCELLENT! Other ideas...
Does he have a favorite charity or civic organization where you could make a donation in his name? It doesn't have to be a huge financial donation, maybe even just volunteer some time together to do something for a group that he sponsors or to which he belongs (or a group you sponsor).
Maybe you could decide to do something together like volunteer at a local animal shelter to be dog walkers for a day, or see what kind of supplies your animal (or homeless, or women's) shelters need and spend a few bucks and drop off something like that together. I've never met a shelter for animals that will turn down a gallon of bleach, or a homeless/women's shelter that will turn down a toothbrush and bar of soap.
Make a coupon book for personal treats like: a kiss, cleaning out a locker, letting him watch his fav. tv show without complaining (if it's something you don't like), typing a research paper, a veg feast created by you ~ that type of thing, of course the level of 'treat' will vary with age of gift givers.
Just show love, for each other, and for others. If you're alone on Val. Day, giving somone else a hand might help fill the lonely spot.

What are his interests? How about a pair of tickets to a concert or a sporting event the two of you can attend in the near future? Does he like to read? Get him a new book wrapped nicely with a nice new bookmark, and write something sweet on the back of the bookmark. Does he like movies? Get him a "movie" gift pack that comes complete with tickets, popcorn and soda for two. Does he like music? Give him some credits for downloadable itunes or MP3 songs, or even make him a mix CD yourself.
well this is what me & my are planning on doing for vday: we've decided not to spend too much on eachother this year (we usually end up buying something far too expensive) so we've agreed not to spend more than a few pound.we're going to buy each other a little gimmicky thing (like a heart shaped balloon or something) then spend the evening together with a take out, watching movies :) probably sounds boring, but i'm looking forward to snuggling up on the sofa!
perhaps you & you're bf could do something similar?

I got my man-friend one of those build-a-bear stuffed animals. I bought a self-inflating woopie cusion to put in it, but that didn't work out so the lady recorded a fart noise. :D

The homemade baked goods is a really good idea! Also, is he likes massages or something, you could get him a gift certificate.
DH doesn't like sweets or chocolate, so one year I made him a big jar of custom trail mix - from the bulk bins at my HFS. He loved it!
I'm making my boyfriend chocolate dipped strawberries. I went out today to get the supplies. They usually sell the chocolate right next to the strawberries. I've never made them before, but I'm sure he'll love it.
