Anyone ever use this? I really want to buy it, it's the only biodegradable toothbruth I can find. I use Recycline right now, but I would really love this b/c it's completely natural. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it.

Nope never used it. But I will probably look into it.
I have put a link to it in case people are wondering what it is:

Yup they are. I didn't even pay attention when I looked the toothbrush up. Never would have even thought that they would use pig hair for that.
Thankfully I make sure that things are vegan before I actually buy them

I kinda don't see what the big deal is. If I remember correctly from reading something about it, I think the boar bristles are collected after they fall off the animal, or something like that. So they're not harvested or anything, just collected after the fact. If that is the case, I have no problem with it at all, seeing as disposable toothbrushes (and manufacture of plastics) are worse and even the recyclable toothbrushes I buy now are only just re-used as plastic benches and such, and I think the less plastic produced and used in general the better.

DreamWavez,
I totally see your point regarding plastic. I guess I just can't fathom the idea of having pig hair in my mouth. It makes me queasy to think about....vegan or not vegan.

Umm.... yeah. Strange topic for a vegetarian board, dontcha think? I don't know specifically about pearwood but yes, they (manufacturers of boar hair products) generally use dead pigs. Most manufacturers don't crawl around on the forest floor looking for stray fallen hairs.

I didn't think about that, perhaps because what I read made it sound like they actually did sort of "pick them up from the ground". I didn't think they were taken from dead pigs. I suppose it's possible that they're a by-product of the meat industry, and in that case I probably wouldn't want to buy it. I think I'll e-mail them and see if I can get any answers.

They don't have their own website, so I emailed a site that sells it, www.holisticbeauty.net and here's the reply:
Hi Amy,
I do appreciate your emailing us regarding this concern. We do not have the answer to your question at this time, but we would be happy to find out. I am going to be out of the office for a week however. This is my last full day. May I email you after my return?
So if they e-mail me back, I'll post that reply!
