This morning I just devoured every page of Canadian vegan Ironman triathlete & ultramarathoner Brendan Brazier's book Thrive.

I highly recommend it to those of you who, like me, are seeking to get into competitive athletic shape after falling out of condition.

Brazier outlines his theory of stress on the body (good & bad & so good it's bad stresses), & what can be done to combat their negative impact. I read a lot of sports nutrition literature in mags like Oxygen & Muscle & Fitness, but never have I ever read such info from such a holistic perspective that really gets to the roots of poor health & obesity (adrenal fatigue anyone??)

He's got some food recommendations that coincide with the VEGA drink mix & bars he's now selling, as well as other recipes that look good.

He's coming out with a full cookbook this year!!:pibo:

Thrive only cost $15, & it's convinced me of some great new ideas to trim down & get strong. Brendan himself is *hot* & a perfect role model for vegans who are strong & fit & go against the carnivore-athlete stereotype.

Go Brendan!! I''m getting a VEGA shake mix out of my next pay.:wayne:

Brendan is truly an inspirational athlete. The vegan bars are awesome, if you get a chance to buy one.

He also has a DVD, fitness built naturally as well as the fitness calendar which he was a part of:

I agree!! His book is awesome, I had the chance to hear him speak and he makes a lot of sense. He is very inspirational and his vega shake mix has so much goodness packed into it! I try to drink one a day just because I feel so good afterwards. I'm not the best at balancing all my food so when I get in some of his Vega I feel like I'm doing something healthy for myself. The berry flavour is the best imo! :sunny:

I have to get this book.Herbivore did an article about him and he seems very well grounded, sensible and knowledgable about veganism.

Whenever someone mentions a lack of vegan athletes I usually point out that Brazier is healthy and vegan...through diet, not supplements.
