These are a new product, and I just tried them today. They come in Broccoli Cheese and Spinach Artichoke flavors, and I tried both.

The bad news: Neither is vegan--they contain both egg and dairy ingredients. (What a surprise.) They both contain soy protein isolate and hydrogenated soybean oil. Not to mention refined sugar and flour, and large amounts of sodium and fat. Face it, they're junk food!

The good news: The first ingredients in both flavors are... vegetables. Good old vegetables. The reported trans fat is 0 grams per serving. And they pack a decent amount of protein.

They taste pretty good, although the breading smells and tastes oddly sweet. You can really see and taste the vegetables. I haven't really figured out what to dip them in yet, but I like them plain. I like the spinach-artichoke better than the broccoli-cheese.

Edit: Speaking of sodium, YIKES! I just had the following for lunch:

3 broccoli cheese nuggets: 660 mg sodium
3 spinach-artichoke nuggets: 680 mg sodium
1 Quorn patty: 525 mg sodium
1 garlic-stuffed olive: 130 mg sodium
1 tsp honey-mustard dressing: ~50 mg sodium
Knudsen spritzer: 25 mg sodium

That's well over 2,000 mg sodium in one meal. Ugh. Thankfully, I don't eat like that all the time, but it's a pretty harsh reminder to go easy on the junk food!

Morning Star products always tasted like vomit to me, only vomit tastes better IMHO!

Boca is much better. Gimme Lean "sausage" rocks! Soyrizo also rocks.

Yeah, but unlike the other MF products, these aren't fake meat-- they're just vegetables. Anyway, I love MF sausage.

I like morningstar products a ton better than boca products.

But I haven't tried these. Do you think I would like them if I don't like brocolli, spinach or artichokes? I'd like to find a way to start liking those type of vegetables.

It might not be a bad way to start. They're fried, after all, and frying things is a pretty tried-and-true way to get picky eaters to like them. The broccoli-cheese tastes pretty strongly of broccoli and not partcularly cheesy, so I'd start with the spinach-artichoke. It's good dipped in some garlic mayo (not that it needs more fat or anything).

But frankly the best way to start liking spinach and artichokes is to go to any restaurant and order artichoke dip. :lick:

I've had them and wasn't really impressed. Not any better than similar products IMO.

I would never eat Boca. They are owned by Kraft foods. Not to mention most of their products aren't vegan, but they also contain GM ingredients.

Go to krafty.org if you want to know what you are consuming when you eat Boca products.

I tried both... and didn't like either one. I tried them baked, microwaved and deep fried, but any way I made them they just didn't taste that good. I ended up throwing away more than I ate.

I saw the broccoli cheese bites and they didn't look too appetizing to me. I'm trying to stay far away from junk food anyway. I am very impressed with MF products though. I can't go long without a veggie corn dog (or hot dog), a Better'n Burger, Grillers Crumbles (I LOVE these), or the chik products. I had a Boca patty at Red Robin and gagged when I tasted it. My boyfriend and I agreed that it was awful. I bought the MF sausage and I'm excited about trying it!

I just bought the spinach artichoke ones, and they were better than I was expecting. The breading was slightly odd tasting, but the spinach wasn't totally gross like I was expecting. They're not the best things ever, but I prefer these over Boca stuff.

The things is, I don't think I've ever seen any similar products. They're unique in my experience.

I have the boca vegan burger patties and they are disgusting. Ive tried to eat them twice and haven't been able to finish either one and i still have two left. even covered in condiments they are still nasty. the MF patties are LOT better. the boca hot wings aren't that good either, the MF ones are to die for!

Somehow I missed your post. I didn't really think you'd like the broccoli cheese, but it's a shame the spinach-artichoke didn't work out for you. You should take my advice and order spinach artichoke dip at a restaurant if you want to work on liking spinach and artichokes.

PS: I still have the rest of mine sitting in the freezer untouched, so I guess they're not exactly calling out to me, either.

I havent seen the MSF ones, but I used to get something similar...another veg comany makes broccoli and spinach nuggets, as well as fake meats. They sell them at krogers....yellow packaging I think.

What do you do with the soyrizo? I've seen it but it seems really soft. I'm intrigued and scared of it.

I buy Frieda's Soyrizo, and I like to take it out of the casing, saute it up with onions, green chiles, black beans, and maybe corn or hominy, and stuff that into sweet bell peppers (or poblanos). Broil with a little cojack cheese over top (or not), yum!

I'll try that.

I did like the spinach artichoke ones better than the others, but not enough to want to eat them. :-/

Spinach artichoke dip is like the best thing ever!

I was tempted to buy these again today because I wanted junk food and they were 2 for $4, which is like half the regular price. Didn't though.

yeah--i like those, too and can't remember the brand name, not frozen--usually with the produce/where the gimmelean stuff is...anyway, not exactly the same because the MF have bigger hunks of the veggies in them--i tried them and hated them/hubby thought they were ok, but hasn't had them again...
