"First of all, they offered us $1,000 and I thought that was an insult for eating roaches," Watson said.
She asked for $5 million and the insurer went up to $5,000.
That tells me all I need to know right there.
The health department director said he would still eat at the location.

Remind me to never eat ANYWHERE in Waxahachie! :spew:

Oh well... at least more people will be boycotting KFC, for whatever reason! :bobo:

Well silly, if you ever get near enough to Waxahachie, then you should just drive the 30 minutes north to Dallas and eat at one of our yummy veggie places! :)
Waxahachie is a little podunk country hick of a town.

Hehehe let me know next time you have a Dallas meetup, and I'll fly out there and join ya! :D

This scares me
"In spite of the roaches, the restaurant passed its inspection, hired a pest control company and remains open.
The health department director said he would still eat at the location. "
Imagine what he must see to say that!

1. if the napkin and sandwich had live bugs crawling on them, why wouldn't they notice? esp. if they were moving? am i the only person that looks at my food before I eat it?
2. people eat bug parts all the time...like the red dye bugs i can't spell...
when i lived in georgia as a little kid we had roaches. my sister ate one and was fine :surprised (well, she was like 2)

Well sometimes people don't look for those kinds of things, like the other day I didn't even bother really looking at the sauce and it turned out it has sausage in it. You do have a point though, if something is alive and moving around...why wouldn't you notice it? I think this woman is full of it, or is atleast being a tad dramatic. Maybe she found one roach, or parts of...but she makes it sound like they were running around on her bread. The children I can understand getting sick, they were probably just very disgusted and although they might have not been physically ill, mentally they thought they were. What I don't understand is that with all of the things that go on in restuarants why people are so shocked when finding a bug. I've heard so many stories, like my Dad's friend use to work at Dairy Queen (this was awhile ago, but it probably still goes on) and the workers use to pee in the oil to fry the fries. I also heard from my cousins girlfriend that they would pee and do other things into the meat at taco bell. Whenever my mom and I are talking about these sort of things she always says
"If people really knew what they were eating (at restuarants) they would never eat." I think it's true, I'm sure there are always going to be pissed off workers or jokers doing things to the food and other problems.
She deserves some money, but 5 million??? PLEASE! She should take the $5,000 and be quiet, and I think the only reason she deserves that much is because of the bad publicity KFC is getting.
I wonder what these types of cases typically settle for, if the victim has an attorney. It seemed from the news story that she did not.
I am not sure whether this isn't the best outcome as far as the public is concerned. Now we know--or are reminded--what is going on. If she had taken the money and shut up, we wouldn't know.
