I was so wondering about this. My neighbor sells Avon and I love their products. Oh man, sad to see that Twig was not on the lipstick list. That is one of my favorite colors. I love Glazewear, Chocolate Fling though.

Yeah cross post away! :)

And I too was sad about twig not being vegan. It contains carmine. *sighs* But I was so pleasantly surprised at how many things were vegan! I even checked them myself to make sure no one was pulling my leg. But nope, eveything on this list is bona-fide vegan. :D

Thanks.

It's too bad that more skin care products are not vegan.

i am thrilled to learn this info! however, isnt avon a company that does a lot to support breast cancer research yet at the same time still uses ingredients that are linked to breast cancer? just what i have heard and looking for info.

Smedly, I am not sure which ingredients you are talking about and I have never heard anything regarding any link to cancer. Avon has said all of their products are fine. My own mother has been using their cosmetics for over 20 years.

However, as a Avon Lady loyal to the customer, I will glady do further research into the matter. If you happen to know which specific ingredients you've heard are dangerous, PM me and I will gladly find out what I can. :)

Avon was one of many companies that the story mentioned. I really wish I could remember were I read it.

Tiggzie, are any of the eye shadows vegan?

Tiggzie
February 2nd, 2006, 01:45 PM
According to the list no. However some new products have come out. Give me a day and I'll manually check its ingredients against my trusty animal ingredient list and I'll see if anything is safe. :)

Smedly, still looking into that cancer link for you. My mom has a tummy virus so I prolly won't have anything until Friday.

Let me know if anyone needs anything else.

I have so many Avon Products. Tons of the eyeshadow kits. I have the soft musk perfume, but that was not on the list either. My neighbor gives me a lot for gifts also. I have a lot of those soft skin lotion perfumes or whatever they are called. Seems like all the Avon stuff that I do have is not on the list.:-/

What about that clear skin line? I think that is what it is called. I was thinking of getting some for my daughter.

I apologize for my delay. I've had the same tummy virus as my mom *pouts*

Smedly, I couldn't find anything substantial on any cosmetic link to cancer that would involve Avon. Unfortunately the FDA does not regulate cosmetics so I understand where the concern comes from. Avon seems to stay away from the more questionable ingredients, that I know. I want to give you a more specific answer so I'm still awaiting a direct reply from the company on the matter. If you want to talk about this further or if you can think of any specific ingredients you wish to avoid, please let me know and I'll get a list together of suitable Avon products for you. :)

Msbunnicula, Avon has yet to post up the ingredients for some of the newers products. They're doing a lot of work to their site these days.
The company comes out with new products almost every brochure; we're talking 12 new cosmetics a year if not more. So keep an eye on this thread because I'll keep informing you guys of what's new and vegan.

Goettling, the clearskin line is not vegan. Unfortunately almost all of Avon's skin lines contain at least one animal ingredient. :( I will contact them and put in the suggestion to have more vegan-friendly cleansers.

Oh that's another thing. If you have any suggestions, wants, needs, etc, PLEASE let me know. The company is quite good at listening to their customers and their reps. If there's a demand Avon will fill it. You can go to the main page, www.avon.com, and contact them directly if you wish.

Let me know if you have any more questions or concerns :D

Lead in lipstick is known to cause cancer.

All you have to do is apply lipstick on your wrist. Rub gold ring on the lipstick. If it changes to black, it contains lead.

Avon is not mentioned in the Animal Free Shopper by the Vegan society which means its a no-no..

that's because not all their products are vegan. but some are and they don't do animal testing. i don't see a problem with buying the vegan products.

thanks for the info, very helpful. i was a rep for a little while, it was fun but i just didn't have the time. i might do it again sometime. good luck with it :)

Are those the only vegan Mark products (besides the accesories)? I actually just became a Mark rep (http://mymarkpage.blogspot.com/) and have been meaning to go through the ingredients lists to figure this out. This is a big help, Thanks!
