View Full Version : kleenex ad (uk)
has anyone seen the kleenex ad where there is a man ( i think he's supposed to be a buddhist monk or something) helping the creatures (picks up a spider, helps a tortoise etc.) well, the first few times i saw it, it showed a fish flapping on a rock and the man helps it into the water - i found it quite disturbing, anyway, i've seen it a few times since & now they don't show the fish bit.
i can't find anything online about it, but i'm assuming they recieved complaints about it.
just wondering if anybody knows what happened...

I've seen it here in the US, and they still show the fish. I didn't like the fish part either though.
There is also another commercial here in the US where they show a fish laying on a table gasping for air, and they compare it to asthma attacks, and I hate that commercial. :(

Oh oh... me too! :(
I haven't seen the commercial. So is the problem that they're using a real fish? The idea of helping a fish back into the water is a nice one ... but you'd think they do it with computer animation.
I've seen that one on Yahoo Launch, and there's still the fish. I doubt many people would complain about that fish, though.

yeah, i haven't seen the commercial but i would also think they'd do it using computer graphics. it's quite common so i'm pretty sure that's how they did it.

I emailed Kleenex and asked, so we'll see what they say (if they reply).

I believe Kleenex still test on animals so I'm sure they're hardly going to be very concerned over the welfare of one small fish.
I actually saw that advert earlier and they still had the fish part sadly.
I think the ad agency for Kleenex /Kimberly-Clark is JWT, London. Just in case anyone is in a writing mood.
The fish does seem to have disappeared. I think they would have used a real fish, it would be costly to do it with computers. I worked on something similar and we used real fish.
even if it was computerised, i still think its irresponsible.just imagine it: 'come on tommy, lets put our goldfish on the floor and rescue it like the man on tv'
:worried:
they haven't replied to my email yet...

No offense, but that seems really far fetched to me. Somehow, I don't think a person bent on performing a staged rescue of a fish would need a commercial to drive them to do those sorts of dumb things.

I personally like the ad, it shows people to be compassionate. I don't like the fish bit either.

lol. yeah, i agree with you.
well i actually meant a little kid could see the ad and want to 'rescue' their goldfish.you'd be suprised how influenced some kids are by telly - i didn't mean a grown man would get such an idea from it.

I didn't mind the fish bit. So long as the fish didn't die.
