are thomas' bagels vegan? the only ingredient i'm not sure about is the DATEM, which could be vegan or not. they have new flat square bagels that we're looking to have.
From their parent website:
Are the mono and diglycerides in your products derived from an animal or vegetable source?
The mono and diglycerides we use are vegetable derived. The mono and diglycerides that we use have been demonstrated to be necessary in order to achieve a desired product quality. Without these, or similar functional ingredients, we could not meet the strict quality standards which have made our products the leaders in their category. These mono- and diglycerides, which are naturally present in fats, have been a component in many vegetable shortenings for many years with a high confidence of safety. For this reason, these ingredients have earned the GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration.
