I saw one of the scariest things I have seen in a long time in the bookstore yesterday (a national chain): As I was cruising through the Religion & Philosophy section (heavy on the religion side--this is the South) I saw a coffee-table sized book in the Christian Living sector that was entitled "George W. Bush, a proud leader" with a large glossy photo of Dubya on the front. I almost choked and then I got scared.......be afraid, be VERY afraid.....
Well the books said “proud” leader not “good” or “effective” leader.
I live up north so I will need to check out our book stores just to see this.
I found this book on Amazon... the title seems similar, am I right? (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/141430983X/qid=1138034059/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-8887794-6287936?s=books&v=glance&n=283155)
My eyes. My eyes. It frightens me so.

I thought that "Bushisms" meant something else :D
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushisms
EDIT: I believe this is the last one:
"You took an oath to defend our flag and our freedom, and you kept that oath, underseas and under fire." Speech to Veterans of Foreign Wars, Jan. 10, 2006
Did Aquaman fight in WWII?
Yeah, like this one: "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." -—Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

I actually feel pitty for him...sometimes. Other times he makes me smile because he looks like a little, grumpy monkey. :elf:

So, others holding an opinion different than your own frightens you?
You may want to avoid the Heap.

I just thought there was supposed to be seperation of church and State, that's all. Other opinions do not frighten me in the least; differing opinions is what makes the world interesting.

ROFL. I guess most people have clearly misunderestimated him. He is even more less-capable than I thought.

I think that a situation where we have a seriously language-impaired person in a position of having his every word being carefully attended to, and each of his commands being immediately carried out, to be a frightening situation. For glob's sake, it is a situation where the Commander in Chief of the armed forces of the United States is inept at communication. What if we are attacked, and he gives instructions to take counter measures -- and then the generals can't tell for sure what counter measures he actually means? A delay in taking defense measures, that occurs while they try to figure out exactly what measures were meant, could be disasterous. We need someone in charge of our troops who can communicate clearly to them. Like me.

never underestimate his incapacity ;)
I sympathize with his speech problems, I have some too. But that doesn't mean he can behave the way he's behaving.
" in the Christian Living sector that was entitled "George W. Bush, a proud leader" with a large glossy photo of Dubya on the front. "
-----------------
Isnt it the Bible that says somewhere in it "pride goes before the fall"
I find it odd that Christians would use the word pride at all. I thought it was something to strive against? I thought it was one of 'the seven deadly sins'?
Gee even myself as a non -Christian pretty much atheist feel that pride is something to be very suspicious of. Even I see it as something that can lead to one's downfall

I say this as someone who really wishes for the end of the Bush-Cheney era to end yesterday, but doesn't it seem just a tad petty when people attack a person's malapropisms, instead of being a better person and attacking something worth attacking, like perhaps his foreign policy?

Sure it is petty. But it is fun! To tease someone about their disability, in their presence, or to make fun of them when they are not around, are both long-standing traditional ways of having fun, and easing tensions, in western culture. I am against doing it in a mean-spirited manner, and I don't think the article was mean-spirited. I don't think people should seriously attribute malaprops to him, that he didn't really make. Of course I can't tell which of those listed he really said, and which someone else made up.
Let's face it, our president seems like someone who could not have gotten at least a C English Composition 101, unless he cheated.
