Read the comments by the owner at the end of the article, talk about defensive! :dizzy:

A woman filed a lawsuit claiming that a hot fudge sundae she bought for her 12-year-old son was contaminated with human blood, but the owner of a fast-food franchise says the red substance was really just strawberry syrup.

A Superior Court judge was scheduled to hear arguments Friday in a lawsuit filed by Carmen Jara against AJM Enterprises, which operates a McDonald's restaurant in Georgetown.

*sings* sundae, bloody sundaeeeeeee

What is he, a botanist? No, he's a 21-year-old assistant manager who saw her screaming in the lobby and said 'whatever you say lady.

Why would a botanist know anything more about blood in a sundae than an assistant manager? :dizzy:

Anyway, it would not surprise me one bit if someone got their blood in the food at a restaurant. In fact, I'm certain that it happens all the time without anyone being the wiser.

Yeah what an idiot. My co-worker said maybe he meant to say biologist, but it is really funny that he said botanist.

Sick. You can tell the owner is only worried about his wallet.

How did the boy "recongize the taste of blood"? How many of you have a clear and intimate knowledge of what human blood tastes like? Could you tell it from any other substance with your eyes closed? I couldn't.

Blood has a very distinct taste, depending on how much there was I think I'd definitely be able to tell.

Or maybe PETA was right and there's blood and pus in the ice cream.

I think it's kind of scummy that the guy won't go in for a blood test. I suppose a judge could probably order that he take one.

Yeh, i reckon i could. It has a very distinct metallic flavour, which i'd recognise in an instant. And very different to strawberry sauce! I remember once in my omni days, i had been out clubbing and got a burger from a burger van (yep, very dumb of me), and when i took a bite, all i could taste was blood :spew:

It's been over a year too. If the guy had anything.... it may be a little late in the game for preventative care for the boy.

Yup, blood tastes very distinctly of iron. I would recognize it in a second. Bleah!

If blood tests revealed that at the time of the incident, the bleeding employee did have any lethal diseases, it could be useful in knowing what to look for in the boy. However, therein lies the difficulty--the former employee could easily have picked up diseases since then, which should not be held against him since he didn't have them at the time.

Are there any samples of the bloody sundae? DNA testing would prove whether it did indeed come from that employee. (Though it wouldn't prove when the blood left his body. If these plaintiffs are as sick as the people in the Wendy's case, they might have gotten the blood from someone else or from that person at a different time.

Yes, I would definitely taste it if there were blood in my sundae.

I onced sliced my hand open cutting a roll at my old job (hospital cafeteria) and bleed all over the roll. Well, since it hurt like hell and I blacked out for a quick second, I kinda noticed it and threw the roll away and told me customers I had to go get a bandaid, and they get ALL PISSY. What am I supposted to do? Bleed all over their food?

Well.. my work(also a fast food restuarant) ran out of plasters (mainly my fault, im AWFUL for cutting/burning myself.. i have SO many scars up my arms and hands now) and when I went to the first aid kit and was all "Hey we're out of plasters" i got told "Yeh just suck the blood out and then go back to work" and the cut was on my finger..

I didnt.. I taped it up.. after saying how freaken grosse that was.. but yeah.. nasty. Well actually theres slightly more to the story but thats too gross to share.

Having said that, I doubt that much blood (A noticeable amount) would have been able to get into a sundae without the person making it noticing, because yeah they must have been bleeding a bit.. and yeah I dont see it happening.

Oh, I know what you mean. I cut my finger open pretty badly when I was setting up a drying machine for a customer. I excused myself to go to the service van and fix myself and they were like "Oh, for the love of God. This is *already* taking forever!"

Well, jeez, excuse me lady. I'd keep going but then I'd bleed all over your nice white carpet and you'd yell at me for that too! It's not like I cut myself to make her day worse.

He probably ment phlebotomist, someone that takes blood. Although I dont think it would be that hard to tell if it was blood in the sundae or not.

I think I would be able to notice if my ice cream tasted like blood. And I have had customers get mad at me having to go and get a band-aid for a cut before too lol. I just asked them if they wanted their food with or without my blood on it and if they wanted it without to shut their mouths and my manager just laughed at them.

I think it would be totally possible for someone to get blood in a sundae.

I once worked in a bakery, and a guy making the rold cut his hand quite badly but must not have felt it at first.

We only noticed becasue the girl stacking the rolls on the tray saw the blood on some and tracked it back to him.

It was pretty gross, we had to throw away about three large trays of them and disinfect the bench as it was all over there as well!

Yech...

It's salty, and definitely doesn't taste like 'strawberry syrup'
I think maybe instead of them saying "he tasted blood!" they should have said "he tasted something funny, not like icecream." instead... when did they start putting strawberry syrup in hot fudge sundae anyway? Did I miss something?
