Hero Dog Singed Saving Sheep From Fire

CARNATION, Wash. (AP) - A barn fire killed six purebred sheep and destroyed a couple's irreplaceable guitars and family scrapbooks and three vehicles, but it could have been worse.

Diane Pagel and her husband, Jeff Freeman, thought they had lost as many as 20 prized sheep when their barn about three miles north of town burned down because of an electrical short-circuit early Thursday morning.

From the story:

Her biggest loss was Granny, a 14-year-old toothless ewe who required special food.

It seems that they care for the sheep. I wonder if they let them die of old age. I hope so -- it would be a shame for the dog to save the sheep and then have the humans kill them.

WE DO NOT KILL SHEEP.....WE HERD THEM WITH OUR BORDER COLLIES!!!!!

My name is Jeff and I train my dog at the place where
Kodiak rescued the sheep. Kodiak is great dog and he is my hero. He disappeared after the fire but later in the day,
He came home and we found him sitting in the pond.

Another herding student, who is a vet, looked him at
and he did get 1st. deg burns on his back, tail and back of legs
But he went right back into the field and went right back to
work, protecting the sheep.
