View Full Version : No more fish
Oh gee... I've been one of those in denial "vegetarians" who was actually a pescotarian. I haven't eaten fish for a while now (try not to count, but months) and the other day my husband bought fish and chips.
Ohhhh- it was hard. He's a pescotarian too and I'm gald he's come that far so I'm no way pushing my next step on him but god I wanted to share that fish with him! I said "My taste buds want it, but I heart doesn't"
Anyway- I abstained and just wanted to share that with the world!! :pibo:

I couldn't eat fish after finding a scale in my fish fry when I was like 6 years old.
But congrats on abstaining from the fish!! It DOES get easier with time. Good job.

I almost had tuna tonight! I know, how odd right? I never really even ate it when I did eat fish.. I had just a weird craving for it tonight. For some reason I don't really have cravings for stuff I use to like alot, but for stuff I hardly ever ate (like tuna)
It DOES get easier with time. Good job.
That's the thing- I LOVED all meat when I gave it up and it was damn hard at times. But I know from that how much easier it gets. Just got to knuckle down with the will power.
Thanks for the support! :D

Congrats on giving up the fish. It may be hard but you're doing a good thing.

Fish was probably the hardest for me to give up. I actually ate a lot of tilapia, shrimp, and tuna.
Way to go on abstaining... the fish and your arteries thank you. :D
I don't eat Quorn products anymore because they have egg, but if you're Ok with that, they taste EXACTLY like fish sticks.

Stick With the Fish By Jeffrey Kluger | Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 |
The Source: Annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences
The Report: New findings about the beneficial effects seafood can have on brain development, visual acuity and disease prevention provide more reason than ever for young children and pregnant women to try to consume 12 oz. of fish per week and for everyone else to try for an admittedly ambitious total of four to seven servings.
A nation of meat-eaters like the U.S. doesn't need much of an excuse to forget about fish. The steady drumbeat of warnings about mercury contamination in some kinds of seafood is enough to drive most of us to a good steakhouse. A panel of experts at the annual meeting of the AAAS, however, has once again urged adults, children and even that most risk-averse group—pregnant and nursing women—not to throw out all the fish just yet.

I recently read somewhere here about making 'mock tuna' with chickpeas. So yesterday I made some with chopped celery, onion and veganniase, and OMG, it was the most delicious thing I've ever had! I brought some to work and shared with a friend and she couldn't believe she wasn't eating tuna!

I made the same thing, with plenty of salt, pepper and dill. It was heaven. :guitar:
