i have very painful periods. i was diagnossed with endometriosis when i was around 13. i had my daughter when i was 18 and my periods went back to normal and were pain free. fast forward about 10 years and my cramps are more painful than ever and my cycle is all out of wack. my doctor just wants to put me on birth control again. i do not want to be taking medication especially hormones. i want to try to fix things with dietary changes, thats why i am going to try to follow a veg*n diet. my question to you guys is, have you had positive changes in your cycle since you went veg*n, and if any of you have had endometriosis, has it gotten better? thanks in advance

You will find that some claim it made a difference and others that it didn't make one.

The book "Healthy Eating for Life for Women" has some interesting notes on the subject. I think it is worth checking out.
Chapter 3 is titled "diet and the menstrual cycle". It really does have some information that you may find useful.

Best of Luck to you

I recommend the book Garden of Fertility (http://www.gardenoffertility.com)by Katie Singer. If nothing else, this gives you a great starting point for learning about your cycle and discovering ways in which you can naturally discover what works for you and what doesn't regarding your fertility/sexual health.

using the charts is a good way to learn what is and isn't working and what the problems may be. it's also a great resource for other resources to help deal with particular problems such as endometriosis.

I wish you all the best!

Mine have improved, although they were never as bad as yours. I've seen enough documentation of it (including anecdotal reports in places like this board) that I think there must something to it, although clearly it doesn't work for everyone.

On a related note, my migraines have virtually vanished since going veg.

The only thing that works for me is the birth control pill. Dietary changes make no difference, and my activity level makes only a small difference -- I'm still incapacitated by menstrual pain one or more days per month when I'm not on the birth control pill.
