Alex Jamieson was the woman who helped Morgan Spurlock back to health after he ate nothing but McDonald's. Now she wants to detox the world...
Fantastic Article and some recipes are on bottom of page-

It's kind of funny how McDonalds can spend billions of dollars, and then some critically thinking people throw a movie together as best they can, and start an eating revolution.
Since that movie came out, McDonald's sales have plumeted.
Things about that movie were amateurish, and even exagerated at times. But it got the message accross.
It's nice to see some people make some money doing something that's actually good for people.
Have McD's sales really "plummeted"? I find that hard to believe, it's one of the most successful companies in the world...

Thanks for posting this article.
Alex's work inspired me to go to culinary school as I learned about The Natural Gourmet from her website. I visit her website often and actually corresponded with her by email several times. She posted my testemonial on her site. :o She's pretty cool. It would great if I could afford her services as an holistic health counselor.

I heard their sales were at an all time high in the US.
I remember watching that movie in a theatre in Toronto which was right next to a McDonalds. The theatre was packed and when the movie was over the McD's was packed with people who were at the movie!
I liked the Documentary, but it was preaching to the converted in my case. I have talked to a friend who says she hadn't ate at McD's for months prior to watching the Doc, had McD craving like crazy while watching it and now she is addicted. Go figure.
I think Alex is awesome, I have her book but have not had the time to read it yet.

Oh my goodness. I just saw Super Size Me last night, and today. Haha. I am totally disgusted. I am never gonna eat McDondal's again. Gross. It made me think. All those calories and fat. Even the salads yall. Nasty. His liver turned to fat. (brafs) :)
I felt so bad for him. I mean, putting himself in that position. I was like, STOP THE DIET, STOP THE DIET. Haha.
I'm gonna continue with the veggie thing. Thank you Super Size ME. Haha.

That was a neat article. However, I would not be surprised to see stats showing McDonald's sales were unaffected or perhaps even higher. It seems the more we know as a nation about how bad the stuff is, the more we keep cramming it down ayway.
Apparently beef sales have plummeted over the last 50 years, so something is going right in the long term. However, I suspect they've simply been replaced by chicken sales.

It appears I may be mistaken about the drop in sales correlated to the movie. I remembered reading about that around the time. McDonald's stock plummeted to $14 in 2003 due to lack of sales. (A ten year lowpoint.) ...But the movie itself came out in 2004.

It may have had an impact.

Good book. But, I believe that McD's had some trouble because people were going to other fast food restaurants, which they perceived to be a little healthier then McD. Then McD's added some supposedly healthier items to their menu and won customers back. Each year more fast food is consumed then the previous.

I think the food is so addictive that seeing it makes us want it. It's like, when we watch drug prevention videos in school (realistic ones), it makes me crave the painkillers I used to be addicted to in a horrible horrible way, even though I know how horrible they were on my body.
