All right, I have grown up having cats and dogs, but I have never seen anything quite like the behavior of our dog and one of our cats. Dudley (the dog) gets along pretty well with the cats, although he does like to chase them around sometimes and gets a little protective around his food and toys. But one of our cats in particular, Nople, seems to just be in love with Dudley or something. She especially likes to approach him when he is lying down to clean out his ears.
One of the really weird things is, Dudley will approach Nople (she just stands there and looks at him), and then Dudley stands over her (he's taller than her, so his chest doesn't even really touch her). Nople seems completely fine with this, but if she takes a few steps, a lot of times Dudley will put his paw on her to stop her. There's nothing outwardly aggressive about it; it's all done very calmly and slowly. They also really like to give each other "kisses" (or at least, sniff each others' noses).
It's not a problem, as far as I can see, and I've seen dogs and cats that are friendly with each other before, but nothing quite like this. Our other cat, Gray, does not do this. Any thoughts? Anyone else have weirdly affectionate pets?
